Now its time to play the waiting game here in the shop on this creation. Just pin up sealed and clamped. I was up early this morning working on this. I put on a pot of coffee for me and the wife. She likes coffee first thing in the morning. I been working on 4 other knives as well, they are a order I need to get out before the holidays as in Christmas.

The one here is one of my new designs and its been a challenging one I must say. It has a Spanish notch
that is sharp, Filework, Reversed Tapered Blade, 52100 steel, Temper Line, Thong Hole, and German silver pins. I will be happy to start the finishing work next. I been documenting all the work on this one. The hardness came out after heat treat and temping at a nice 59.1/2. To me this is on the money in a working knife. :)

I will post more photographs after the knife is completed and ready for sale. Thanks for viewing and I am open for comments.

I dunno what to say.. I can't see the knife for the clamps :p

Ummmmm I think that the black clamps clash with the red handle material unless you've got black liners to tie the color of the clamps and handle material together?

KNIFE - 9. 5/8
STEEL - 52100 WITH TEMPER LINE
BLADE 4. 7/8
HAND RUB - 600
REVERSED TAPERED BLADE
ROCKWELL - 59.1/2
SPANISH NOTCH
PINS - GERMAN SILVER
FILEWORK ON SPINE
HANDLES - AMBER/ BOURBON WILDEBEEST JIG BONE
BLUE LINERS
FREE POUCH
THONG HOLE - GERMAN SILVER

THANKS FOR LOOKING:Terry

Those handle scales are beautiful Terry!
Did you dye them yourself?
I've never seen wildebeest bone handles before, jigged or smooth!! :)
Can you please tell me what "REVERSED TAPERED BLADE" means?
Is it widest at the tip and gets thinner at the hilt or the other way around?

Yes Michael you are right a reversed tapered blade is a little widest at the tip and gets a little thinner as you go back. The handles are beautiful in this color. Sometimes they come out not as dark. I do all my own work myself here in the shop. Thanks for your question. -------:)

Want to thank you all who posted and sent me email about this knife. It's great hearing from you all. Maybe the next one will be better or as good.

Wonderful!!! I'm glad you decided not to go with those clamps, they really messed up the lines of that lovely knife ;) :D I really like the color of that handle material.

Terry, I was going to say ,I make knives exactly like that.
Blue tape all over one end and clamps all over the other.
But pic #3 popped my bubble.
Really nice looking knife, love that handle.
btw where do you get that pc of bone pipe or whatever you call it, on the lanyard ?

A few years ago we were down in the state of Tennessee on vacation and I always have a eye out for supplies for the shop. We were in the Gatlinburg area when I came across a Cherokee village and there was some Indians doing business. I purchased some of the leather strips, and some of the bone. But since then I usually make my own. Most are made from water buffalo horn, stag, wildebeests bone and so on. When most think it something to throw away I usually can find some use for. As much as materials cost one need to get has much used as one can.

Thank you Skilldust for your question and appreciate your kind comments on my work. And have a great day in your shop as well. :)

Terry
