The Water-resistant / Water-proof Map Paper...what ink?

So, do you need to purchase a special ink cartridge when you purchase the special paper or what? I want to get an HP Printer in a couple/few weeks and this is one of only precious few reasons for me to buy one to be honest.

It seems counterintuitive, in the extreme, that just any old ink is going to work, what's the dealio on this?

I know one dude had this massively informational thread on this stuff but I can't search and the Google process is...well...it is what it is and... :D
 
If you make sure you get the right paper, you will be fine. I'm guessing you are referring to Rite in the Rain. They make both ink jet and laser paper. I have tested both on entry level printers, and it worked great, as long as you use the right paper in the right printer. If you have a laser printer, go with that, since the ink jet paper is significantly more expensive.
