I'm sure I'm not the first Mensa member to discover this, but the wave on my Spyderco Delica opens beer bottles like a charm. Will try my Emerson later and report back...

Can't do it with my Emerson CQC12 or CQC7. I think the wave "hook" is longer on the Spyderco knives.

That goes back a long way. The Kershaw Talon was a hawksbill blade that came in plain edge, partial serrated, and bottle opener -- the bottle opener was a hook on the back of the blade that worked exactly like the Emerson Wave.

the talon is a cool little folder, but don't recall there being a hook on the blade. if you can find a pic i would like to see one, it would be cool

I bet this raptor talon makes for a badass Mall Ninja Blade and bottle opener

Almost everything can be used as a bottle opener.
I never understood why some Victorinox knives have one, you can just use the handle for that..

haha funny this thread should start!

I just opened a Blue Moon with my Endura 4 Waved! Worked like a charm!

Interesting, I've been looking for a knife that encorporates a bottle opener (was looking at the CRKT guppie). Might have to look at waves to do it.

The waved Spyderco Pikal has its origins in the Kershaw talon.

I once opened a beer with my Endura Wave in front of a lady friend. She enjoyed that I did that.

Knives, beer and women...that day did not suck.
