This is an art piece that George made a while ago. He has a preference for the Art Deco style that he has made into a series.

The blade is 440C, the handle is Delerin (sp?)

The Dolphin was hand filed and painstakingly worked than bead blasted for contrast. The real problem came when it was time to finish by setting the eye. I left the room and didn't return until 3 hours later when it was safe. The wrong placement of that dot would have ruined the knife and being a mirror image to boot was a bit of a challenge.

The total number of hours for this knife was about 80 hours. 40 in the design, 40 in the actual making. The time and effort that many makers put into their creations can never be fully appreciated or charged for. It's a labour of love for most of them and only they and their partners know what has gone into each piece.

The sculpting of the Delerin was alot easier than setting the eye position When George decided to use the Delerin we were told that it was not a good material, it would change colour, it was difficult to work, etc. etc.
Well, it's still pristine in colour, was fairly easy to carve and all in all not a bad product at all.

George says he will be making a few more cutouts in the future but for now this is my favourite.....
