I wrote this for Mike K's thread on the press making but thought it better
to put here,, so not to be OT. blast me if you will...

Well it looks like the right time do this...
I think,,, as if anyone cares now what I think

if anyone has not followed this whole thread,,...
well, that's what happens..Matt.. :)
IMHO if you had persisted you'd could be persecuted in these forums own little ways :)

I'm thinking I've been the butt of more than just a few under the breath comments in this one and in other threads now because of this one.
get out while you can haha
flat out is much more honorable don't you think? :)

Mike K
I wonder now more than you, I'm sure, why am I doing this, the forums thing?

I would be a LOT richer by staying away money wise...for the time I spend here on the forums.
I will be backing off some now. this one thread has taught me much more than any of you will ever know..personal and professional wise.

I don't have a deg in engineering but I like to think I have a lot of practical experience, I like things as a layman would understand it, so all here too will understand..it's what this is about ALL of IT..

I have miss understood a few comments early on in this one and I was in my opinion miss understood TOO IMO, trying to make a point, if no one got anything out of that, that's OK too.

I think though,,
Has anyone noticed how everyone now had to tipsy toe around here??
I wonder why,it could be defensiveness, yes SOME on my part..

This has been a learning experience for me anyway..
though I may be just a wee bit little thick headed at times (or a lot) in the way I perceive things, ok,, that's the way it is.. Sorry but I seek to understand and if something that seams to imply something, I'll ask what, it don't matter , I will ask

Mike K

As for thinking it's more trouble then it's worth  , I think you know better than that,
by the comments given to you, all along this thread,

I've e-mailed you 7/12/2005 directly trying to let you know just what and how I thought about this
I took the responsibility because of my , (call it) stubbornness for lack of better words.
The misunderstanding the whole thing and with no return with a mail from you?

I stand corrected now I have found a reply to it, yesterday,, wives some time's , thanks.

Ron C,, you have been very very gracious and pleasant I thank you, you are a true credit to what you offer and may I say with no negatives. Thank you.

Mike F buddy, you also are a true credit to me with a humor I've enjoyed
thank you..

Ole bill :) you have a way with everything positive, I see why you have many friends and don't have to ask for them to be so..Thank you

Mike K

only because it's your thread and we've danced a little ..you'll feel targted here, please don't feel that way...
It's been interesting at the least, objective, and a bit head butting :)
you can take me at my word or read between the lines,
but if you do read between the lines with me, you'll come up with something totally on your own..please
remember that..
your programs and education do you well, and your knife work is great looking stuff,

BTW how is that project coming??
I wish you all the world has to offer you.
...
I have learned a lot, believe it or not, right here in this one thread..
more than just about a press.
I for one do thank you all for your time, I know My input has taken up much of it... yes it was worth it..

just a note..
while serving during the last part of Nam
I found that respect bread respect and where there were none it was cause for great discomfort,
this is a frame of mind and something that is taught, not something we are born with..
many of you fine men know of what I say and do not need to hear this from me and already know it..
The problem here was
Though I question and look for answers and at times seem dang demanding this does
not mean I have any less respect for any of you here,
If I don't get a straight answer for something that I've asked I'll put it in a black and white way,
that way there will be a straight answer to it,,,

I in no way, knowingly want to discredit anyone, though it was alluded to be meant that way, no ,
we can discredit ourselves by ourselves with out help..
Though everyone should be respected from the beginning it can be lost do to ones own fault,
I hope I have not done that to myself.
many of you that I have not spoken with before this thread, have earned to keep my respect for you.

Even though I do feel stupid at times ;) read what you all what into that one, now I wonder what this will breed? :)
thank you all...Dan now I need to get some knives out the door....

Dan-

I know this isn't gonna make you happy, but I HAVE to say something.

I think people would follow you better if you worked on your writing style.

It is almost impossible to understand what you are saying.

You write in these short bursts and I have no idea what makes you decide to hit the return key when you do. The format of your posts is really all over the place.

I'm not talking about being grammatically correct. Lord knows I seldom pull that one off.

My point, is it's very hard to follow what you are trying to say in your posts.

I'd bet a wooden nickel you'd have more people "on your side" if you could convey your message with more clarity.

I know I'm not the only one who thinks this... probably just the only one who will say it.

Just my $0.02 :)

Dan

We have had our differences and i think it is a result of comunucation on both our parts. I want your imput as well as others.

Dan, thank you for the kind words.

You make some very good points that I hope all who read this thread stop a moment to think about.

It is very easy on forums to get into situations where a small difference of opinion can quickly balloon to a major misunderstanding because of the lack of nuance inherent in the printed word. (Sometimes, on the other hand, the nuance is obvious and getting pissed is the only thing to do other than turn off the computer. ;) ) Anyone who posts here a lot and is willing to question things is going to have that happen. Sometimes we are fortunate and able to work them out in the thread. Sometimes it has to go to emails or even phone calls. Sometimes, people develop differences that would never happen if they had been conversing face-to-face over a bowl of pretzels. That's sad when that happens and things are left angry.

At times, it gets so frustrating that we feel like abandoning the forums altogether. I've even managed to do that for almost 48 hours once! Sad commentary on what my life's like.

What works for me is to take a break from posting and just read for a week or a month or six. It actually helps with the frustrations. Another good break is to avoid any serious knifemaking topics and just hang out to give IG crap. :D This place does make us laugh often, doesn't it? I find that a good thing for us who tend to live isolated by virtue of occupation or circumstances. Having a "community" is a good thing, like having PITA brothers and sisters.

I'm just saying, "Don't go away." Take a break, if need be, but don't get radical, friend. :)

I get in arguments all the time wih my brother but that doesnt mean i dont want to see him once a year at Christmas.

Dont do anything silly and stop posting here. Who's gonna tell me I dont know what the hell im talking about if you leave? Oh, thats right, I forgot about that Sanchez guy:D ;)
I am leaving tomorrow (Sunday) for a one week vacation so I wont be posting but when i get back I expect to see a weeks worth of posts from you that will annoy the hell out of me, Dan.

it's Sunday
is he gone yet
can I come out and play now.. :D
just kidding...
Mike K , truly I do mean well..and I'm very miss understood, most the time :(

Nick Buddy if I can call you buddy, you are right..and
no I'm not mad..
I needed that to know what others think,,
to many times we/I don't or can't say in the right words what needs
to be said or what is meant to be said.

Mike F you put it well...Thank you

yes I have a bad way of writing things, it's sure not like being together for a slap on the back and a beer to know each others (lack of the word for it), Nick now says... what the hell is he trying to say now?? :D .

I'm not leaving, I just have to put more time in on backed up work and the time will be better spent, I think some of the other guys we know that have gone to the back grounds
of these forums know how I feel too, about the time thing,,and if it's doing some good or not.
this does take a lot of my time for me to type things as well as I do now. :barf: ,

believe it or not  I have a short term memory thing going on. , about a week ago I had to go in for a mind competence test  yeaup.

I've spent way to many years in none ventilated arias with carbon monoxide fumes,,, believe me it takes it's toll. I remember it being so bad at times I couldn't add up a simple sales slip. working conditions
were something else..short term not long term memory :) I'm not incompetent, they want to know just how bad it's is,
..

anyway, so much for excuses, I was at fault, I didn't have to work there, but I have an excuse for that too. I'm rambling again , right?.

I'm ok with the world,, just know that I'd give any of you guys the shirt off my back if you needed it...all of you..
it's the best way to explain myself to you..

Mike K I hope your wife didn't really think, I or you blamed her for that late mail..
I'll leave it at that, because, I'd just mess up trying to explain myself and make things worse.

thanks Guys..

Good luck with the memory thing, Dan. Part is aging; we notice it all the time, then promptly forget we noticed. :( Green tea and gingko time.

I re-read my earlier advice and like it so much I'm going to follow it. Later, folks.......

Green tea and Ginko help with CRS? I'll have to try it, it gets embarrassing to lose a name or concept just as you are about to say it. That happens to me all the time.
