The current cutlery I go to has the greatest employees. If any of you were wondering, it's Plaza Cutlery in the South Coast Plaza. I stopped in the other day and asked the older gentleman (I think his name is Gene) all sorts of questions about all sorts of knives and he brought them out and showed them all to me. Even over the phone, the people who work there are very nice. To me, this is the kind of place we need more of; where customers are actually treated like customers and not people who are just going to fork over money. I give Plaza Cutlery (and all the people who work there) two thumbs up. Keep up the good work guys. :)

Thanks for the kind words. We do try to be helpful but every once in a while we may miss someone as we like to let people look & not hound them.

I assume it´s the same place I visited back in the late 80´s, they were very nice and helpful, good to know they are still there. I don´t go much to the U.S. any more but if I get around I´ll drop by.

Plaza is certainly one of the finest knife shops around. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. It's the kind of place where you want to spend your money. If I'm not mistaken, this is a second or third generation family business. I got a cool Elishewitz from them at Blade West this past year. I only wish I'd bought the TNT that they had in stock last year! At the time it seemed like a silly amount of money. Looking back is was actually a bargain.

Here's to Dave and his staff. Happy New Year!

Yes Plaza cutlery is a great knife store. Granted I might be biased becasue I worked there for over a year, but I learned a great deal there and fell in love with customs there. Dan and his family are great people and I highly reccomend the store. And I believe it is 2nd generation family run.

Bayou lafourche also is a great place to buy knives!!!

Roger has excellant customer service!!!!!!:)

Yep Plaza Cutlery is certainly the finest seller of sharpened steel I have been a patron of. They not only dont hassle me but they share my enthusiasm, and sometimes it is hard to find someone to talk knives here in OC. Brian knows me by name, but I think that has something to do with my name being Bryan...but thats how I always remember his name so it is OK. They recognise me and always are helpful and supremely friendly.

I cleaned them out of the SOG mini-tools before X-mas and a few other goodies. They had no problem pulling out most of thier stock to let me select the peice with the best fit and finish.

There are times when I can find something cheaper on-line or through auctions, but I perfer to support them....they have earned it.

You know me....the long-haired video-game artist who luuuuuvs knives. You can find me prowling and lurking through the knives at Plaza Cutlery.

If you see me there, say "Hey SkinwalkeR! Wutssup?"

Wow, I almost forgot I even posted this thread.

Now that Plaza sells SureFire lights and accessories, it's even better (not on the wallet though)!:D

You can't forget Nordic Knives in Solvang, about 40 minutes drive north of Santa Barbara. Nordic is the same kind of shop as Plaza, totally committed to quality and nice folks. They've got the greatest collection of customs I've ever seen in one store. They even sponser an annual show like Plaza. It's quite amazing and sometime in the spring (well worth the drive from OC in my opinion).
