Received my EDC yesterday and will spend the weekend using where I can. Specs from JK...6 1/2" overall, 3" blade, 1/8" thick O1 steel, Tan canvas micarta handles, Brass pins. When it arrived I cleaned it off and gave it a quick bath in mineral oil (food safe and protects O1), which darkened the handles slightly.

Came with nice handmade kydex slip sheath as an option as well.

Thursday-Friday we got over an inch of rain so it's a mushy mess outside, so started indoors. Was making Tomato-Cucumber salad for tonight and started with the EDC. Incredibly sharp and great at the small tomatoes but clearly too small for the amount I needed to cut and without recess for fingers, so not ideal for the job. For it's size food prep for 1 can be achieved (I'll try as steak knife or for ribs), more than that, a bigger knife would probably be easier.

Will try out the EDC to cut back some landscaping tomorrow and thin out some of my black bamboo in prep for spring.

Good looking knife Noah, I'm partial to tan micarta and brass pins myself. (partial to Cuc and Tomato salad also )

Thanks for the pictures - always nice to see some JK getting worked - I look forward to more of your posts -

Warm this AM in North Atlanta, so am going to finally cut back stuff around the yard and fertilize for the upcoming spring. Cutting back Black Bamboo and decided to shave some with my EDC. Incredibly tough stuff, needing bolt cutters to thin growth, but EDC does ok.

Used EDC to cut open a few bags of fertilizer, 12 bags of compost and trimmed up some lower branches from the trees and small shrubs in the yard.

Quick wash and dry, apple vinegar soak in a tall shot glass to start a grey patina, dry and hit the sharp maker, ending with mineral oil bath. Probably time for a cross draw or horizontal sheath.

Cool patina, Noah - I like your granite too - nice!

Not to highjack the thread, but I have to comment! :p

Each one of those redish, wine colored spots is a garnet which is a semi-precious stone. Ive seen some garnets the size of golf balls in slabs of granite!

Edit: Love the knife too. I wont be caught dead without my Wharny E01 Hunter.

Was putting my sharp maker away and saw 4 tubes of ceramic triangles I had forgotten about. 1 pair of superfine ceramics and 1 pair of super coarse diamond coated I had forgotten about. Hit the EDC on the superfine to refine the edge....Amazing what O1 steel on a Sharpmaker becomes. Then I sharpened my Wusthof Chefs knives, Pairing knives, and steak knives......
