The Wegner Jr as a utility knife

This is probably more a generic knife post than anything specific to the Wegner Jr (which just happens to be the one involved).

I gave my son a Wegner Jr just before Christmas and a recent night trip led thru the mountains where an inadvertant wrong turn took him onto an icy road.

He reported that after several futile attempts to gain traction, he used his Wegner Jr (partially serrated) to cut some foliage to lay under the tires whereby he was able to get back onto the main road.

He had never packed a knife before this, and doubtless was smart enough to have found another way out if he hadn't his knife, but I'm grateful for the extra edge it gave him, and doubly happy that it was a Wegner Jr.

Longden,

Now THIS is something worth reading about!

I am glad to hear you gave your son a great quality knife: Wegner JR. I have a few Spyderco knives set aside for my daughter for when she is older (HOT PINK models of course....LOL).

Stuff like this is what media/youth of America needs to read, NOT how 'TACTICAL' some thing looks, or fast they can flick open a folder like an automatic knife.

GREAT post - thank you.
