This is probably more a generic knife post than anything specific to the Wegner Jr (which just happens to be the one involved).
I gave my son a Wegner Jr just before Christmas and a recent night trip led thru the mountains where an inadvertant wrong turn took him onto an icy road.
He reported that after several futile attempts to gain traction, he used his Wegner Jr (partially serrated) to cut some foliage to lay under the tires whereby he was able to get back onto the main road.
He had never packed a knife before this, and doubtless was smart enough to have found another way out if he hadn't his knife, but I'm grateful for the extra edge it gave him, and doubly happy that it was a Wegner Jr.
