I was eating some fried chicken , and it put a blue patina on my blade.
Who would've thought that chicken could patina a knife.
I like the patina it gave half of my blade so much that I plan on using it next time so I can get full coverage.

So have you guys gotten a patina from something unexpected ?

Fish bellies.

For some reason, gutting/cleaning fish gives a nice blueish tinge tot he patina. Go fishing and get some patina material. :D

There is probably a bit of acidity to the fat.

Best Regards,

Indeed. Cooked meats tend to leave a vibrant violet to blue patina on a carbon blade.
I think it looks great!

Man the patina on that bullnose is awesome.
I would love to see what kind of patina I can get from some small mouth bass, but my dad can never find the time to go fishing very often and neither can my brother anymore.

Deployed to the Middle East, I used a NOS Camillus Barlow to help manage a chicken curry lunch.

Result: great, unusual patina. And an outstanding meal.

One of these days I'll get off my duff and learn to post some photos.

I don't want to know the treatment the chicken received before getting into your plate... :D

I too have found a blueish tinged multi coloured hue to the patina formed by a nice juicy steak.

Raw and cooked meats produce the best colors in my experience.
Fruit and vegetables create dull grays, where meats leave more blue/purples.

I love the patina cooked meats give!

I got a custom Kephart from J Neilson, long before Forged in Fire. Great knife, I traded it to my buddy. He used it to cut up some steaks, before and after cooking. The patina looked pretty cool, I didn't take any pics of it. Yes, he traded it back to me, and I later traded it with a local shop. The shop owner said he liked the patina and was keeping it on there.
