The Wharncliffe Trapper is a really cool design IMO. Anyone have one? What do you think about it? I think I'll be buying this Case mini trapper soon.

Got the Mini-Trapper pattern,2 jigged and one smooth bone.I like them a lot, never been a fan of the Spey blade much so the Wharncliffe is much more useful.Good medium size, and the CASE fit&finish on them is very good-half stops and a smooth spring that's flush. Some scale colours are a bit questionable though....
If you look around for it you can sometimes find a copperhead pattern w/a wharny blade. Full size 3 7/8", or the mini (single spring) 3 1/4". These feel better in my hand. Plus you get the sunken joint!
Here's my copperhead...
Thanx Bob for the photo.

David, that is the same knife as in my top picture. And I think I can see one of the "S" from the "SS" (stainless) peeking around the corner on your blade there. So, I'm afraid that will be the most stain resistant CV you have ever had
Any recent CV model will have "CV" instead of "SS" noted on the blade.
Wasn't there a production hardware store brand trapper back in the 1930's with a wharncliffe blade called a Hawbaker special or howbacker or something like that?![]()
Not sure, but I think you may be referring to a type of Muskrat pattern that has a Wharncliffe instead of 2 Turkish Clip blades.
