So i was talking to my friend the other day...and we came up with this game....it got kinda addicting after a while....so i want to share with you guys and see what your choices are. here's how it goes

You start of with X amount of money....lets say $1000 or $5000 (for crazier knife nuts). Then, you get to choose whatever, and as many knives as you want (folders, Production or custom) to add into your collection. there are really no rules...except that you CANNOT exceed the $1000 or $5000 amount. The fun part is you have to balance your budget and compromise between your options.

The categories are as follow...

EDC
Heavy duty
Tactical
Gentleman

feel free to add or remove any categories...have fun!!!

MY $1000 list

EDC: Spyderco Paramilitary 2($110)
Heavy duty / abuse knife: ZT302 ($260)
Tactical: Emerson Combat karambit ($160), Emerson cqc15 ($170)
Gentleman: BM 42 ($300)

MY $5000 list

I'll bite on this one:
EDC: Benchmade 890 Torrent Satin Finish ($130), Benchmade LFTi Bob Lum ($230)
Heavy Duty / Abuse Knife: Boker Plus Resurrection Gen II ($60) , Gerber 06 Manual Combat Folder ($112)

Maybe I'm a little cheap, but I like all of these blades (I can't wait to get my hands on a 275 Adams especially)

Edc - kershaw leek combo edge 45$

Heavy edc - cold steel Recon 1 tanto plan edge 60$

Tatical - cold steel Karambit - 150(or whatever it is)

Gentelman - Case trapperlock with pocket clip in green bone 100$'ish

I already have the leek/recon and I'm getting myself a case for Xmas. I never really see a reason to carry the Karambit do I'm almost set.

Ok, I'll bite.

Hard use: CS Large Voyager ($40) CS Bushman($20)
Gentleman's:Kershaw 1993-2 ($75) SAK Classic ALOX ($20)
Tactical: Emerson/Perrin La Griffe ($100) PLUS a drive across the Mississippi River Bridge to Pat Crawford's House..."Hey Pat, what kinda big tactical piece can you make me for $575?"

Great idea sounds fun

EDC Strider SMF Black G10 $475
Heavy duty Cold Stee XL Voyager $60 TOPS Knives Steel Eagle $180
Tactical Ka-Bar TDI Sidelock $30 (and you gotta have a balisong) Benchmade 32 Morpho $205
Gentleman CRKT Delegate $35

All prices from BladeHQ rounded cause i dont like math :P

So we're talking in addition to what we currently have? The only thing I have a want for is a hudson bay axe ($130) and maybe a real Nessmuk($130-$200). By real Nessmuk I mean a knife that follows the same lines as the original and that is 3/32" thick or less. A lot of makers tend to make them too straight and too thick.

Then spend the rest of the money to go camping.

Edited to add: For some reason I have a hankering for a spear head. Have no idea why but want one bad.

Thousand isn't going to cover it for me. Would go a long ways, but I'd be getting me a Darrel Ralph custom Gun Hammer bowie with Damascus handle and some sort of inlay.

The best with the least:
EDC/heavy duty: Strider SnG (400$)
Gentleman: Sebenza 21 (400$)
Tactical: Emerson pick your poison (200$)
This is a very good way to spend a grand:D

EDC - Spyderco Harpy (I had a Merlin and it vanished:( )
Heavy EDC - KaBar
Tactical - I'm old fashioned. My idea of "tactical" is something purely weapon, so I'd say a Cold Steel Tai Pan.
Gentleman's - custom damascus Searles style bowie.

$1,000
1,000 Frost cutlery pieces that I will buy at 4am on a Fri night. I will take them to swap meet and sell them for $10,000 since they each have a MRSP of $29.99 and I'm only selling em for $10 each. Now my budget is $10,000.

ZT 300 $240
Yuna Hard 2 or 3 $550

EDC: Byrd Cara Cara 2 G10 ($30)
Heavy Duty: Becker BK-2 ($60)
Tactical: Becker BK-9 ($70)
Gentleman's: Case Peanut ($30)

WHAT!!?? $190.00 for all those awesome knives. Here is my point to this post. You don't have to be rich and spend $5,000 to get good, functional, tough blades. I can purchase all of these awesome blades I listed for less than $200.00.

thanks.
