No-one talks about the White Dog . I have never heard it referred to except in its balanced relation to the Black Dog .

At least you better hope its balanced . There are cultures that refer to the dogs as a fight within them . The dog wins who gets fed the most . I respect that point of view . From that point of view it makes perfect sense .

There are other points of view that refer to the two brother dogs as balance , harmony if you will . I am not talking about there could be no Good without Evil . I am referring more to harmony within ourselves . This is not even positive countering negative .

I am losing it here . Some of this is just things I have learned along the way .
Some people prefer to think of it as flow . To harbor the dogs means constraint . Even if there is flow it is constrained . If we allow this positive/negative energy to flow there is no positive or negative it is just energy .

What is your take on the White Dog ? Let us not bandy terms here . Refer to the dogs as you wish . Karma , Good and Evil , Yin and Yang , Positive and negative , Ziegfried and Roy .

I lke the grey dog. He is the combination of the black and the white.

Always seek balance and you won't go wrong.

In Bali there is a kind of combination srteet play and trance dance between Barong (golden fluffy lion dog. Two people in costume) and Rangda the witch. Usually with a lot of black in her costume and white gloves (Hindu color of death and mourning)

They argue and threaten back and forth for hours. People from the crowd join sides. They pull their keris daggers and stab themselves with no harm. All are in heavy trance.

Each menaces until a balance is found. And then the various protagonists relax and peace is found and the village is considered purified.

There is never a question of the "good Barong" winning over the "evil Rangda." Or vice versa.

They don't think that way. They think GREY!

Is that you, kevin? Why the Grey in your name?

Bill Marsh Is that you said:
Thats a rather grey area Bill . L:O:L

It certainly is a question of balance , seeing both sides,(good luck on that one) perhaps coming to the realisation (read having my nose rubbed in it) that just because other cultures/religions/faiths/beliefs handle things in other ways , look at balance in different ways , it is not so foreign to me after all .

Bill I love it when you answer my questions . It always leads to so many of my own . That tradition/ritual in Bali is superb . I find their ways of great worth . From that folksy ritual you mentioned to their interestingly complete way of looking at agriculture/pisciculture. I do not know too much of the of their agricultural ritual . The practical end of things is just goldarn great . They even use under the gravel/volcanic rock filters .(well at least their God does .) Their earthy contribution is no less well thought out .

I would love to see their equivalent of a farmers almanac . (As long as no Keris get drawn) L:O:L

My black wolf is very powerful...so I have to constantly feed the white wolf.

I don't mind doing it...

one dog is black and the other is tan-niether is worth a dam-

its a nice balance-kick black dog one day and the other the next day-helps keep me in a good mood, nothing better after a day of hard work than coming home and kicking a dog-

used to have a cat that i would drop kick .but one day it left and never came back-

for those with no humor i am having some fun-my dogs are over 100lbs each ,no way in hell im kicking one-it would hurt my foot too much!
