Small knife, Large possabilities...

Everybody seems to be going through this small knfe craze at the moment, so I thought I would jump on for the ride....

The Woodlore theories at work. I tried one of Peter's new style Woodcraft knives out the other day. It's amazing how much control you have over a 9" overall 1/8" thick peice of steel & micarta. Turns easily in the hand and very easy and comfortable to control. The one below has a unique chisel ground blade style that worked quite well! I have ordered a Scandi 'V' Ground version as can be seen second from bottom in the last photo.

Could this be the end of the big banger survival knives!!!??? :D

Interesting design. I've always favored a 4 to 5 inch blade for outdoor use. What steel is used?

NICE!

I really like the bottom one in that last photo!

OK, now for the dumb question, who is the maker, "Peter"???

Scott, steel is D2.

Maker is Peter Jensen here in Oz.

Cool, I didn't notice you were from OZ, one of my best friends was raised in Australia since she was 3, she makes a really funny combo, she is Persian by birth, but raised in OZ. She has the classic Persian beauty, dark eyes, dark hair tanned skin, that really nice medditeranean/middle eastern look, but then she speaks and out comes the Australian accent!

Does Peter Jensen have a website?

Interesting take on the Tracker design.

HAHA..I gotta admit, when I first saw it I thought "someone accidently put their Tracker in the clothes dryer and shrank it".

Thanks for the link Trout #2!

I checked out his site, here is a blade I could take to!

He calls it the "Bushman", it's under his hunting knives section.

6 inch blade 3/16th D2.

what do you think of the big finger choil on a small blade like that? there is a knife i am drawn to of similiar size with a finger choil but have never tried one on a small knife. i do like them on my big bushwhackers

Me personally, I like them. Gives me the ability to "choke up" on the knife blade for fine cutting work.

I could not help but Photoshop that photo into a clip point!!!!!

I like the clip on that as I would not be prying with D2 anyway and thus a finer point better suits the steel. Jansen also work with carbon steels like 1045, some of the above patterns would be nice in those steels.

Cliff, excellent point! No pun intended...

Peter offers many steel choices (as I have ordered an ATS34 version also).

It should be here after the weekend and I can not wait to try it out.

TLC - long live the clip point!!!!!!!!! :D

Gday All,
