It's a test shot for the project I am working on, which is a bit too busy... But it was a test shot for colors, textures, depth, lighting, color balances and contrasts for several other shot ideas in one. Still...all things considered, it's not a horrible shot for it's last internet appearance :)

I'll be over for dinner!

I'm hungry... hah. Looks great! Really nice shot.

Why it's last?

It had an accident today that damaged it a little, it took a fall during the photo shoot. Then my daughter spoke up and saved it from immediately having a much worse one...and then it went home with her. It exactly matches, other than the chip in the handle, the Bushboot I gave her anyway.

I love this photo!!!
I keep looking at that lamb shank ... please pass the lipitor.
Lucky daughter..kind of finders keepers.

Maybe it's me, but I look at the picture and I see "ROY G BIV" starting at 7 o'clock. Is that a coincidence or should I cut back on the Knob Creek?

Thanks! Yeah, the good thing about roasting a lamb shank over an open fire is a lot of the fat cooks out...drips into the fire, and then the sent wafts on the breeze :)

Well, she loves the Booshboot she has and they do match, seemed only fitting. She has been playing with my Fiddlebacks a while. She did her first successful fire-steel-fire-with-organic-tinder-in-wet-weather using the prototype Bushfinger back in 2011, she has good taste in knives :D

Lol, I do see the colors but in a scattered sort of order. Needs more purple :)

Epic shot!!!!!

Woodsman less?

Thanks Todd, glad you like it!!

Yeah, for a while anyway. I have been wanting one with a lighter colored handle for the last year anyway. So much time field testing tactical tools has me burned out on black... It's fine at work, but not so much on my own time anymore.

The was an important lesson learned though. The first step this morning was to set up a padded perimeter on the floor around the work surface...

Crazy good shot. Sorry to hear it on the Woodsman Brian, but you know, there will be more.

Photos look great.

The title of your thread scared me a little. My first thought was "What? Is the Woodsman being discontinued? Nooooo!"

If you want to borrow one for some more shots, I have one (and another coming) that I would be happy to lend. They are both quite different from yours though, so don't know if they work for your planned photos.

Thank you, and lol it wouldn't the first, and not even sure it would be the second, time the Woodsman had been retired lol. That's one of the most difficult models to grind I think.

I may take you up on that, but as it turns out the Gaucho size is working well, and the shape definitely works well for me. I may try to find one of those with the right wooden handle in 1/8 and preferable tapered. But it will be a bit before I can swing that.

The Gaucho is really nice, I just recently got one. Haven't used it at all yet, but I'm going to at least put it to work in the kitchen soon. The Woodsman still reigns supreme for me, though.

Thanks Andy, and yeah I know. Which is good, because as much as I love that knife, it really isn't the right one for this project anyway.

But for now, it's not like the Gaucho is disappointing me. It's working extremely well for what I am doing with it and the size is working out too. I wish I could have snagged its wooden handled brother at Blade as well, but I will be watching for a thicker one in 1/8 for more woodsy type stuff :) :)

I love the one I have in food prep uses, and want a thicker one as well. The Woodsman will always reign supreme for me personally as well, but like I said, I could edc the Gaucho easier than the Woodsman. But I will eventually land the right Woodsman anyway :)
