So i've been doing some vine/overgrowth chopping with my gelbu special (cuts like magic) and I noticed it has some spots that look like rust (It's not) and was wondering if I can use this spray to clean the blade. Will post pics of the rust looking spots left by plant blood.

Clean? No clean! Embrace the dark side:

1. Overnight vinegar patina
2. Use
3. Sharpen
4. Oil
5. Repeat 2-4 until the end of time.

Bet you can guess which one I use the most! (From L to R: 18" Sgt. Khadka Bonecutter, 18" Tirtha Dui Chirra, 18" Murali ASTK, 17" Bhakta WWII -- with smoothed grips on the BC, ASTK and WWII, which I find supremely comfortable)

EDIT: I should make it clear that the ASTK is the khuk that I blessed with the working patina. The others I actually do try to clean up a bit, LOL.

Thanks! If you do decide to force a patina with vinegar, be aware that it'll have a yellow tint at first but then will gradually darken to grey with more use and oiling.

To answer your question though, using the Works should be fine. No telling if it'll remove whatever sap or debris is on the blade, but the cleaner itself isn't going to harm the polish. If you do develop surface rust spotting, I find the best product to use by far is Evaporust, which they carry at Harbor Freight. It won't ruin the finish and seriously makes rust disappear within seconds, no scrubbing or sanding.

Thanks for the info. I happen to live near a harbor freight so that's convenient. I'll check it out today.
