The World's Strongest Folder-A mini review

Arlee Niemi makes the world's strongest folder.

This knife is different. It is a knife designed by someone who admittedly knew very little about current trends and locking mechanisms, but who did know a bit about machining and engineering.

The Megaladon is a brute, weighing in at over 8 ounces and requiring a stout sheath for a comfortable carry. The blade is ground of S-30V to a good working edge, and the handles are G-10 with a grippy pattern. As most of you know, the knife is an auto.
I find it odd that the worlds strongest folder happens to be an auto, but hey thats how it works sometimes.

I have subjected this knife to stress and torture that would have made 95% of tactical folders wilt. It is good . Real good.
The "Clamshell" Lock as I like to call it locks up tight as a drum with zero play. If I was a construction worker, or a lineman, or a soldier I would want a knife like this. Brutally efficient and strong, this is a concept that deserves to be developed further.
Hopefully some of the manufacturers are looking....

It is my deepest hope that Mr. Niemi makes another run of these knives or at least can figure out a way to make them a bit easier for his own sake.

A pocket clip would be nice, as well as a bit more ergo handle (a guard would be nice..)

What do you say Arlee?
How about a Megaladon II. I will take another. I suggest that if you start taking orders now, you could sell 40-50 real quick.
Make a few changes and lets get the worlds strongest folder out there in more hard user's hands.

Sounds pretty interesting. Yes, I agree. A picture of this "brute" would help to clear things up a bit.

When did you purchase this? Last I looked into getting one his sight was down and I couldn't find contact info. Any info. you have would be nice along with a picture of the beast.

It's not my place to put words in Arlee's mouth, but I don't think you're likely to convince him. Back in August, Arlee posted that Cliff's review of the Megaladon had resulted in a grand total of two (2) sales. Folks around here sure are willing to talk about wanting the strongest lock possible, but they don't seem to be willing to walk the walk when it comes to actually paying for it.

Yeah, they're all just a bunch of big-talking cheapskates. They make me sick to my stomach.

Edited to add: I almost forgot to add ;) so some Einstein doesn't get all pissed off and take it seriously.

MadAxMan,Placeknives.
I don't know whitch picture is the scariest?
Thanks Anthony

E-mail me for more details and or pictures. If there are more orders I can make more!!My webmaster left the area and I let the web page go down, sorry for the inconvenience.

Anthony, if the email in your profile is still current, you should have some pics of the Megaladon that A.R. emailed me.

A few things about this knife:

1)You will break the blade before you shear the lock.

2)Spine whacks on metal do nothing to hurt the lock up.

3)The knife is a lot of knife for the money!

I've always wanted one of these, unfortunately where I live, auto knives are prohibited.:(

Now, if I could get one as a regular folder, I'd take one in a flash
:D

In addition to the lock security and strength, the cutting ability is actually far above average, grip ergonomics are solid, etc. .

Ya. I tend to wince when people start talking about "strongest folder", because many overbuilt folders have thick crappy (though strong) edge geometries. The Megaladon will not only be the strongest folder in your collection, but very well may come straight from the maker as the sharpest.

While I agree that I wish A.R. put some of the cleverness that went into the Megaladon into a non-auto. On the other hand, I do admire his philosophy -- no-compromise kick-ass folder, period.
