The World's Thinnest Wallet

Increase the length and width, make it a bi-fold rather then a tri-fold so it doesn't have to be as thick?

Genius? who'd a thunk!

i think... this is one of those roundabout ways to fix a problem that doesn't actually fix the problem. how, about, instead of simplifying your wallet, you simplify your life?

i mean... if you've got 30 cards in your wallet, there's something wrong. i'm not saying you have 30 cards (like advertised), but you get what i'm saying.

i carry one credit card, student id, drivers license, military id. the amount of cash i'm carrying varies my wallet width a little bit, but for the most part, it's very slim. what else do you really need?

For me, 30 ccs are way too many!

but other docs are now made in card form:

gym ID card
hlth ins ID card
couple of other ID cards
a few loyalty points cards
bank ID card (not cc)

plus 3 ccs (MC, Visa, Amex)...

I love carrying a thin wallet and have always carried a simple bifold without any plastic ID windows,

but it seems that 8-10 "cards" are just as few as I can get down to

I've seen it and like the idea of having a thinner wallet (who does not) but I don't see how they are really doing it unless the thing is just leaps and bounds wider then a standard tri-fold (think truckers wallet on a chain here). I don't care how they have the thing divided if you fold it all up it's still going to be roughly the same thickness if it's the same width, laws of physics and all that. Plus who wants to carry a clothe wallet? As for simplifying I wish. Let's see what I've got here:

3 credit cards
1 Sam's card
1 Atm card
Bank Id card
Driver's license
Voters registration paper
time call in card (work)
Swipe card for work
Blue cross and blue shield card
Dental card
Prescription card
two keys
a few dollars
business cards

Move your gym card to your gym bag, golf course membership card to your golf bag, firing range membership card to your range bag, etc.

Keep store "membership" and points/discount/"loyal" cards in the glove box of your car instead of in your wallet. Go to an office supply store and get a cheap business card file wallet case thing to keep them organized. If you have several cars, ask the stores for several duplicate cards; they will gladly issue them because they don't want you to not shop at their store just because you don't happen to have your card with you.

Keep airline milage and other travel-related cards in a separate travel wallet and keep that with your shaving kit so you won't forget to take it when you travel. If you only travel a few times per year and not generally on zero-notice, then why carry your airline milage cards and rental car and hotel discount cards around all day every day? I know, you have repeated fantasies of just telling your boss what to do with himself and jumping on the next plane to Bimbo Island and you want to be able to get your milage points if you do it; well we all have such thoughts from time to time, but the reality you should face is it ain't gonna happen and you're carrying all those cards around for nothing.

Do not carry cards you don't frequently use such as bank ID/account cards, social security cards, voter registration card, passport, etc. with you. Take them along only when you know you'll need them. When was the last time you needed your Voter Registration card unexpectedly?

Don't carry credit cards you don't use frequently. For example, if you have a company credit card for travel expenses, why carry it when you're not on travel? If you have a separate bank account that you rarely access and don't access unexpectedly, maybe a Christmas savings account, don't carry the ATM card for it.

These suggestions not only thin your wallet, but will save you considerable trouble if you loose your wallet.

Excellent ideas Chuck! A good example of non-linear thinking:thumbup:

Thanks!

I went to fruitbat's link. I've seen these wallets before. I like the idea, and before you dismiss them, look at the variants offered. I drew each to scale, overlapped on one piece of paper.

The Junior will fit in a shirt pocket with cash and a few cards. Probably the best deal, especially for lightweight summer clothes. The Card Case might be a good organizer for those business or travel cards, maybe even one for each function, and they do come in different colors.

I tend to carry a very simple thin "Wallet/Coin purse" with minimal contents, and as Chuck suggested, keep all the other cards elsewhere for access only when needed. But I keep them all in the one same fat rayskin wallet that sits at home as a single location for them.

Yes, these All-Etts are cloth. If you want to impress the world and the muggers with your expensive wallets, go ahead. But in the city, it's not a bad idea to carry a small, inconspicuous wallet for everyday, and save the best for dress occasions.

I'm probably just simple minded but the idea of distributing stuff here there and everywhere sounds like a sure fire way to insure that I invariably leave something behind that I need. :)

I don't know about expensive wallets, the ones I carry typically cost around 20 dollars. Leather just seems a bit classier then me then cloth that's all, the cloth ones remind me of the velcro kind I carried in grade school...

As an aside I saw some of the rayskin wallets at blade. I forget who the manufacturer was but the thing I noted right away is they all pretty much looked like a lady's change purse... ;)

I went from the smaller THE wallet to a Victorinox front pocket wallet a couple of years ago. I use a cheap plastic envelope with a string tie for all of my store cards, gym card, etc. I leave my credit card and a couple other cards in my checkbook. I only carry a DL, a debit card and a laminated card with emergency contacts on it.

The Victorinox wallet was very convenient but came apart after less than a year. I went to a Bosca card holder/money clip which was fine. I replaced it last month after browsing the County Comm site and buying a Maxpedition card holder and a titanium money clip.

custom wallet from "vess"(vessleatherworks.com).... Vadim made me what I wanted as far as space, I bought 4, gave 2 of them away... and had him make a nice bi-fold for my father.

bank card, student ID, movie card, CAA, driver's license

might carry a bill or 2 in there between a couple cards, but thats all I carry for a wallet. Got tired of having a couple inches on one side.

I generally only carry 8-10 cards overall along with money, currently I also have CA money which I need to do something with. I have been known to stick larger things in my wallet if I really think I'll be needing them later and think they're VIP. I like a thicker wallet, I've had lightweight wallets escape out of back pockets before from ripped buttons and that's no fun. I can't remember where I got my current leather wallet, but it's looking pretty portly. It doesn't look like a bad little cloth wallet for 18 dollars, something to take kayaking or hiking.

Another reason for carrying a wallet in a front pocket.

wallet smaallet that's wat my denim jacket is for a pocket for eveything and few things elsewhere

Dudes, so long as it's full of cash your wallet can never be THICK enough!!!
Who the hell wants a thin wallet???

I'd rather have a thin wallet filled with a few hundreds than a fat one puffed out with a stack of singles.

I agree. I've done that countless times. I don't carry a lot of stuff in my wallet. Just the basic, ID, CCW, 3 credit/bank cards, insur, etc. But it is nice to be able to put papers and stuff in there for later use without worring about forget something. And I like the idea of a super thin wallet.

Fat wallets only. Only one credit card (only one to worry about), and full of cash. I love cash, it has that nice money smell. Cash works anywhere, doesn't need electricity for a transaction like the credit cards. Best of all it leaves no identity trails. keep my cash in a chain wallet, looks good on the belt and complements the blade(s) on my belt too.
