the worst knock off you've ever owned.....

A friend of mine has an old Emerson/Benchmade thats rusted up good for using it in AK. When I saw it, I remembered one of the crappiest and dangerous knives I've owned. It was pretty much a rip off of that BM/Emerson run....same handle shape, blade...even the thumb serrations...but the liner lock was plastic, and the thumb disc was glued on.

this was of course years ago, when I didn't know any better. I was just wondering if anyone else has owned bad knock offs.

I've owned one or two crappy knives, who hasn't, but I don't think I've ever had a knockoff as such.

I too am having some trouble coming to grips with a plastic lock! What an exciting concept! :)

Magnum knock-off of Emerson -- given to me by inlaw as a "gift."

I tried to use it as a gardening tool, but the pivot screw would NOT stay remotely tight. So, locktite. Then the blade would not hold an edge.

POS.

My worst one was a knockoff SAK, handles fell off, blades broke, sissors didn't work from day one, etc...

I kid you not. Picture on of those 975 s ....with the plastic lock.

Always wondering what made me so nervous about it. Makes me want to go back in time...."put that finger trap down, and walk away....just walk away..."

Oh Lord, YES! How could I forget. I Got a couple of those. Laughable quality.

I would say the BOSS Cheetah. I remember when it was coming out all the hype it got, it even ended up on the cover of blade magazine (pretty good for a balisong huh?). My friend and I were just counting down the days till we could finally get one... Then it was one disappointment after the other. Out of the box someone said it was "about as sharp as the nail on my big toe." Screws flying everywhere when you were flipping it, poorly molded handles.... Big letdown for me back then.

I had one of those too. It had a "navy seals" emblem on the side, but it was made in china.. I think just about everything on it bent.. then I started wondering why.. then I got a LM Wave... then a few more quality multi-tools, then I ended up here... I'd say my 'knockoff' served it's purpose well... or poorly, depending on how you look at it.
:o

The only knock-off like thing I've ever had was this POS nameless China made multi-tool :barf: that I got 2 years ago. I still haven't used it.

To be quite honest, most of the cheap knockoffs (mostly fury stuff I bought in Chinatown when I was 13 or 14) that I have (They're still in a shoebox somewhere) weren't that bad. The worst one was one of those Rambo knives I got at a flea market I fervently believe that this knife had positively NO heat treat whatsoever. The tip bent one time when I sneezed at it.

I got a William Henry knock off for my birthday last year. It was pretty if your into plastic. Anyway, the blade bent at the joint some how on day one. Bent to the point where it could not be properly closed.
It made me sad to know that somewhere, someone payed money for that.

PROTECT THE WOMEN AND KIDS ! SNEEZE A' COMMIN' !!

I once had a cheap POS chinese copy of a SAK, where the impliments were so soft, I swear I could have bit 'em in-half. The knife-blade was so dull, I didn't have to worry about it closing on my fingers due to a bad lock...It wouldn't cut me anyway.

I got a cheap multi-tool as a door prize.
Decided to see how it performed next to my Gerber multi-tool.
I grabbed a paper clip and went to cut it with the wire cutters. It cut the paper clip all right, but it also took a chunk out of the wire cutter.
I decide test over, it now sits in my fishing tackle box.

Ha I had a POS Chinese SAK
It had a weird symbol on the side like a Chinese coin and on the other side it said "Users Knive"
I think it was made of old cat food tins ( no sorry that would have been sharper!)

Also had a knockoff Spyderco Delica.

This was rather sadly imported by Whitby (here in UK) it had Rostfrei on the blade. Absolute copy. The tip snapped off almost immediately, but was used as a box tearer for a while.....

Obviously Iwould never buy another knockoff. Now I know better....

I had a Chinese Spyderco ripoff whose edge actually bent when I used it to cut a plastic strap on some furniture packing.

I've been given lots of knockoff SAK Classics, typically marked with company names. God, they suck. :barf:

I took one once, bent the blade 90 degrees, and it ws soft enough it didn't mind.

Chinese SAK ripoff. had a Q* kind if logo. The tools resembled SAK tools but had their own usually peculiar difference. I got it at a tool store during their grand opening. "Show up with this add and get a free SAK {style} folder". That was a long time ago before I knew much about knives. LAter they sold them for $1.
