Man, I was on the Trade site and I couldn't give away a Case Classic Zipper Coke Bottle for a older Buck. I was trying to get rid of some other knives I have collected over the years to make room for my new mission of collecting one of every production Buck, folders at least. I had 112 views and not one response. I guess Buck knives R just a better brand of knife, my 2 cnts.;)

:D You're preaching to the choir here!

I would trade a buck knife for a different brand knife... If I like it, that is.... Buck knives are the best knives made... But sometimes other knives just look good... I like Stag handle knives and there are some nice German knives out there.... ...

A lot of my Bucks I use are 20 to 30 yrs. old and the reason I still, use them is they work . DM

I have a Case Copperlock (the only Case that actually like the looks of) and I noticed that it was a little dull, so I whipped out the diamond steel and in about 60 seconds I had it terrifyingly sharp and actually managed to cut myself.

I've been doing a lot of Bucks with 440C lately, so I'm used to spending a half an hour while watching T.V. and getting a knife almost sharp and maybe working on it a bit the next night to get it REALLY sharp.

There's an INCREDIBLE difference in steel from the one knife to the other.

The Case gets sharp in 60 seconds and gets dull in about 30 seconds of fairly serious use.

It will be months or years before I have to sharpen the Buck again.

Which is why I don't regard a Case as a really serious knife.

:)

I have a Case Equestrian I like a lot...as a hoof pick that is. LOL. I've tried using the knife blade on it and have found the exact same thing. Sharpens quick and goes dull quick and therefore it's not a real user. The hoof pick works great though.
