The wood model that Yvsa made has arrived and Gelbu tells me that steel is in the forge. I think Sanu is doing it but am not absolutely sure. I ordered two so we will see what Sanu does with this one. Based on what we have been seeing recently I have very high hopes. Stay tuned!

Whatever the outcome, put me on the list to get one. I want to be among the lucky individuals to own a Yvsa khukuri! Anything designed by Yvsa -- because of his years of experience -- has got to be good!

Uncle has really been on an all out assault the last few days!First the kothimora katana, then the other katana, now the big one,the one weve all been waiting for!I cant wait to see it.

If the kamis get it 95% I think it will be alright!
I do hope that the kamis duplicate the curved handle design to a good percentage of the model.

I absolutely love the old full curving WW II model I got from John Powell. It has a certain magic to it that is different from the standard style khukuri design of today. I can't say it's better, just a different "feel" with its curved handle that "locks" the hand into it so well.

The khukuri still performs its function well as we all know. It is still up in the air as far as I am concerned as I haven't had time, nor am I willing to beat up an honorable old knife to discover the differences, if any, between the old and new design. The Yvsa Special will be a different story!!!

I can now understand why the handles have became straighter over the years since I have worked with the Chainpuri blade only. The only way I know of making the curved handle fit, is to burn it in after its been drilled with two angles. That means the handle has to be fitted while the tang is still hot from the forge, or it has to be heated again to properly fit the handle. That's what I did to get the curved handle the Chainpuri is going to have fitted properly.
I am glad I had the experience to do that without harming the blade.
It's not something that just anyone may want to do, you do have to be careful. It takes a lot more work and care in fitting to get the full curved handle. I can see why the khukuri has evolved from the full curved models of long ago to the
modern khukuris of today.

Obligations are eating into the time I have to finish the Chainpuri, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.

What does this have to do with the Yvsa Special? I have worked on the Chainpuri blade to make it as full curving as possible with just grinding and by bending the tang for a full curved handle.
Like I said, "It's still up in the air..." but I am starting to feel the old full curved khukuris lent themselves very well to being the superior weapon they were. And then I may just be full of it. What do I know?

Yvsa
Glade your blade is being made.I have see the drawing and I think you have captured the essence of of several old style blade/handle combos and in doing so have come up with one of your own.Now matter how this comes out I am sure it will be a fine weapon.

I know I have two orders pending but I would like to get on Yvsa's band wagon. So when the Kami decide to start the Yvsa run,I would like to be on the list.
