You wake up on Monday morning and realize that there has been a break-in and all your knives have been stolen. You call your insurance company and they tell you your policy is limited and will only pay you $250 now and $250 in six months to replace your blades. You don't have any other money for knives for the foreseeable future cuz the thieves cleaned you out. If all you could buy is Spyderco knives how would you spend the money$$?

I would tell my insurance agent that that is ridiculous and show them a copy of my insurance policy, which clearly covers my personal belongings up to $100k. The only articles listed separately are jewelry, fine art, antiques, and a few other categories (not inclusive of knives)

What kind of insurance do you have? Even the basic Renter's policy I had covered up to $25,000 property loss.

Dragonfly, Delica, Salt SE, Endura, Pacific Salt SE, PM2, ...

Have the same, but am in Canada.. so it's like $500 on Amazon

Play along answer:

I'd opt for a K05P Utility Knife, a VG-10 FRN Stretch, and a CF Chaparral.

Real world answer:

Even ignoring the ones that would be in my pockets when I'm out of the house, there is simply no way that even a gang of skilled thieves would be able to locate every single one of the 500+ knives that are scattered through nearly every room of my house, gather them up, and escape before the cops arrived.

So instead: "There's been a house fire..."

This thread is beginning to incite paranoia and create a hoarding outbreak... I'm about to start burying some of my items all around the yard. :p

What an ironic thread....in my normally idyllic neighborhood, a skate tribe with no apparent jobs or visible means of support is renting a house 2 blocks over. Now there has been a series of daylight break-ins, somebody is trying to pry open windows, and cars are getting looted. These upstanding individuals were heard by my neighbor walking down the street saying, "what do you think about that house?" and I don't think they were estimating real estate value. It certainly made me get to work documenting all my valuables and taking pictures of all my knives. Now I just need to etch an identifier in each, and I can put my knife-paranoia to rest. Or maybe get a camera system up too....

I hope when they break in and see your knives they change their mind and leave.
I mean who would want to pee of a knife nut? Maybe they don't think that far.

the smart people would just keep there knifes along with there guns locked up in a safe!as some things you just can't replace...thats what i did.

If I had limited funds because I was "wiped out" I wouldn't be wasting my money on knives.

Playing along answer would remain the same, a K05P Utility Knife, a VG-10 FRN Stretch, and a CF Chaparral.

Real world answer would be:

Again, assuming the fire started when I was out, and ignoring the one's I'd have with me, it would take a pretty intense fire to get the ones in the gun safe, and an even more intense one to get the ones in the floor safe.

Now: I'd buy an Endura 4 FFG in blue or orange and a DFly Salt PE. Then I'd watch eBay and the FS section FOREVER for a lefty Millie to show up.
When the other $250 showed up, I'd buy a Street Beat and a Stretch. Done.
