Before GEC's #93 Ram Foot, there was the Camillus Rope Knife. It's slightly bigger at ~ 4 1/4 closed, and the blade isn't as pointy, but the resemblance is undeniable.

For those that missed out on the new releases, do not fret. There are still plenty of cool knives out there.

I was in the Merchant Marine from the late 80's through the late 90's and a Camillus rope knife with jigged Delrin handles was standard kit in every lifeboat. We tried to keep them from rusting by packing them with grease and then putting them in plastic bags, but we still had to replace them once a year due to excessive rust. I remember that you could order them from a Graingers or McMaster-Carr catalog. I never understood why they didn't buy a stainless knife to put in the lifeboat.

If you get ahold of a Northfield, I'd love to grind the blade down to a wharncliffe for you ;)

Beautiful old Rope Knife Christian

Thanks Jack.

That has a very graceful neck,
I would jump on it at the flea market:thumbsup:

If you ever get a chance, do so.

It is a rope knife. Perhaps the powers that be thought that the corrosion produced serrations would be plenty effective for cutting cordage. o_O

Love these old rope knives.View attachment 1154984

That's a good one.
