This was a $5 find, and for the entertainment value I got from bringing it back into service, it was even more of a bargain. It was very difficult to open, now walk and talk are superb and it is sharp. It will be in my pocket tomorrow.

Justin,
You did a nice rejuvenation on a neat knife.
It looks like it will be a handy pocket rider.

Thanks for the before and after pics!!
Nice find and nice job, jb!!

When I started scrolling down to the first picture and saw the tree shield and rusty blades I cringed. I hated to see such a fine knife in that condition. You have it looking almost new now. Good job.

O.B.

That's a great looking Stockman. Great find and you did a great job cleaning it up.

Nice job! I only go to flea markets when my wife makes me, but I have found some pretty nice ones. Mostly I look for old Barlows, but the majority of them will have the blades ground away from sharpening on a bench grinder.

Nice find. I agree there is still treasure hidden in flea markets. It just isn't easy to find it.

Great work on the restoration. What did you use to clean the blades and back springs?

Thanks

Congratulations on the find. Very nice job on the cleanup. I'm sure you're going to enjoy having it in your pocket.

Nice find. 'One man's trash, another's treasure'.

Plenty of good stuff to be had at the swaps, but you gotta target the one time vendors not selling repetitive junk, and you gotta battle the flashlighters who show up before dawn every week.

Looks great now, nice find
I'm at the local flea market every weekend and always find lots of older knives but the hard part is finding a single blade that hasn't been mauled by a grinder.

Impressive rehab, Justin; the "after" knife looks great!:cool::cool::thumbsup:
Thanks for the hope and inspiration your post provided. ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
