Whittling them with a bare-tanged Becker blade would not be my first choice though. :p

I picked up my first set of wood scales from Tommy the Who. They are Honduras Rosewood, and I am trying them on for size on the Magnum Camp knife.
They give me something to shoot for.

But I have some Bocote blanks to finish which started out on the thin side for Becker scales, but I will work with them. I cut corners off with a power saw, then roughed in with a 4.5" angle grinder fitted with a sanding disc. Finally I finished the fit-up with the old Dremel. Now it's all hand sanding & final finish. Even though they were a bit thin, they will suffice. I am pretty easy to please when I just start out a new type of project like these. Besides, wood scales grow on trees! :D I can try again if it don't come out perfect.

Sometime in the future, I will try a blade project, .... I hope.

Those look nice.
If they're too thin, it's easy enough to shape some liners and drop 'em underneath. People have used CD cases, plastic binders, or kydex. I prefer G10, but it isn't usually just lying around - and doesn't grow on trees! If it's thin enough and flat, you could even use a strip of wood.

Those look sweet, both sets.
You're not a man until you've contoured a full set of scales with nothing but a file and sandpaper. ;)

I move for a full broadside picture of those scales on that BK-5.
Does anyone second the motion?

"aye" is too short, but ""aye"" will do.
(sorry, geek humor)

The nice thing about them is the interchangeability, I'll have to get busy now.
Long live the Republic! :)

If you find them too thin, well i highly suggest you put them on that nice bk2 you about to buy for yourself, the thickness of the blade should take care of that....

awesome. or, should i say, "Beauty Clark."

The "aye's" have it. I think liners are a great idea, I'm gonna file that one away for later.
