The new SKMW catalog includes the 'new' Shrade Old Timer knives. An excerpt:
To bring you the Schrade name at the most affordable price, the product is manufactured off-shore.
Sheephorn handles, "stainless" blades, and First Production etchings for $17.99.

These have been available on eBay for some time now, but at much higher prices.

SMKW has three "Old Timer" models with sheephorn, and an "Old Timer" electricians knife.

Thought you'd find it interesting...

Let's hope the ship sank.

My life will be complete when Mexican Tequila, Canadian Sorel Boots, and Ruger firearms are all made in China.

Anyone noticed these things in Hardware stores yet?

AH Yes Crown Royal with a ricecake in the bottle. Jack Daniels in a saki bottle. Did you ever see the movie The Purple Heart. You might want to watch it while driving your Mitubishi ( they used to be in the airplane business ). AHH SOO. LT

Speaking of China Schrades, I was watching the mad Hillbilly on Friday and he had the new Schrades. He however insinuated that they were made in the USA! I sent him a quick email and his assistant stated they were mis-informed by the distributor on where they were made. On Mondays show, he made some comment about the blades being made in America but being assembled overseas. Hmmmm, sounds funny to me.

If you look closely at these knives, you will see a strong "family" resemblance to the United-made Colt, Smith@Wesson, Coleman, Rough Rider, etc. slipjoints being sold. The thing that really makes me :barf: is the sheephorn scales. I don't have much faith in these holding up long, I see a lot of shirinkage and cracking in the future. Taylor had a chance to do some faithful reproductions of some classic patterns, but opted for the path of least resistance. Like I've said before, Taylor has done nothing with the brand that warrents the support of real Schrade fans. Unfortunately, we are in the minority by a large margin.
