There's a Byrd in my pocket

So anyone that knows me knows I carry a Delica of one kind or another every day. I'd picked up a Meadowlark for a friend for Christmas and was really impressed with it. I ordered one for myself along with a few Robins and a Cara Cara. (Just to have all the sizes)
I'm really digging the Meadowlark. It's really surprised me with it's quality to price ratio. I'd originally got the Robins to give as gifts but I decided today that I'm going to carry one for a while and see how it carries. It will accompany my SE Delica so I have both types of edge.
I have to say my only beef with these Byrd knives is that the clip is super tight and hard to clip. I'm sure that will change as time goes on but I worry a little about tearing up my clothes. But that's a really small gripe considering how happy I am with the Robin and especially the Meadowlark.
A lot of times when a company offers a lower price model either through their own company or another brand the results are less than stellar. In this case I think Spyderco hit the ball out of the park.

I'll continue to carry both brands and I can see myself giving my friends the byrd in the future. :)

I really like the crow that I carry in my left rear pocket. I can just forget all about when it's in my pocket and it gives me enough cutting power for light cutting tasks and won't scare sheople so much.

Why not just pull the clip out a little to loosen it up a bit? Clip tension is pretty easy to adjust.

Just clipped it in my pocket today. I'll get it adjusted I'm sure. :)
Just not as smooth as the Spydies I have. Just an observation really. Not a mark against the knife at all.

Good stuff!
As they say, "A byrd in the hand is worth two in the bush" :p

Nope they aren’t as smooth but starting at one fifth the cost of my favorite spydies I’d have a hard time holding that against them. Good knives, great at the cost. I’ve given many as gifts.

Just to clarify I meant the clip tightness not the actual opening and closing of the knife.
And I seem to have fixed the clip so it slides on and off the pocket just fine now. :)

So yeah, winner all the way around. And at their price point they're awesome.

The byrds are solid little knives for the price. I have a couple of them living permanently in packs as backups. I'm hard pressed to think of another folder as inexpensive as a byrd that matches the quality.

Yeah, I've been really impressed by these knives. I mean I've carried a Delica for well over 10 yrs and Spyderco in general for longer but being a knife guy I've got knives from many other makers. These Byrds are as nice if not nicer than some of the higher dollar offerings from some other companies.
At least feel, fit and finish.

Byrds are now the knife I recommend to people I know won't spend the money on a real Spyderco.

Over the years I've been disappointed in several knife purchases that cost me a lot more money. These didn't disappoint at all. I still see myself spending more money but the beauty of the Byrd line is I'll have a lot more knives for future gifts than had I not given them a shot and gone with something more expensive.

I'll never give up my Delica but I think it's found some company.

I have three Meadowlarks and love 'em both. I have an all black stainless and the frn.
I also have a rescue meadow. Easy knives to work with and great value.

I have a Crossbill and love it. I'm really looking forward to the Cara Cara 2 as well. I think I'm gonna get one of those.

I am currently lusting after a G-10 Cara Cara.......it looks so good in all the photos I see, I'm just wondering if it might be TOO large.....8 and 5/8 inches open.....anyone care to talk me into it?......;]

Nah, it'll feel normal and all else will seem small in a week or two.

If you already have a normal or small size knife, you'll have a knife for every occasion. I have a Millie and a Cricket and things in between, and it gives me lots of flexibility to carry wherever I want.

If it's your first knife, I'd recommend a Delica or Meadowlark-sized knife.

But if you're set on a byrd, wait a few months for the FFG ones to come out. Look for the prototype pictures.

I am a noob....currently have a Tenacious and a Manix 2...but I like the design of the cara cara

Heh, just found a PE Meadowlark Rescue on sale and snagged a couple. One for the car and one for the go bag.
Got a couple of regular Meadowlarks either for gifts or something.
They're priced well enough you can have them wherever you need them.
