I have a 10" slotted paper wheel I am currently using to remove burrs/ polish edges with. Even when I pull the blade across quickly I can still feel the heat.
I watched the late Vadim's video where he shows it not burning the lacquer.
I would like to run my own tests.
Can anyone recommend a product to perform a heat test?
 
Maybe try a thermal camera like a FLIR ONE Gen 3 - Thermal Imaging Camera for your smart phone? There are a couple of other brands as well. You would probably need to video the process to catch the brief high point in the heat as the blade moves across the wheel. Not sure if the resolution will be high enough for the task, however.
