I've looked high and low to no avail, I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive Thermocouple probe and digital gauge to calibrate my kiln, this would be used to make sure I'm getting accurate temps.. My kiln is rated at 2300f. and is a paragon 18"

I want this to be a completely separate unit, aside from the kiln.

does anyone know where to get something along these lines??

thanks..

Omega sells probes ~$15-30.. their digital thermometers are expensive.. $150 ish. You can apparently use a cheap PID from Ebay in the $30 area to display a reading instead of an expensive digital thermometer. Someone else can probably elaborate on that.. it shouldn't be difficult at all, but I was already ordering from Omega so I just got the thermometer from them.

Auber has a PID for $36.00 that will do what you want plus it can be used for other uses in the shop and is much more versatile than a read only probe. You will also need a Tc with a ceramic sheath, and a TC connector. I did not look at the Auber site, but I just bought the supplies and I think it was less than $80.00 to build.

Well, bad news for me today.. :(

the guy I bought the kiln from was putting it in his truck when his helper dropped it...............

sooooooooooooooo, back to the drawing board and I'm off to building one..
