Does anyone have experience with thermoelectric coolers ? Battery drain ,effectiveness etc ?

I've got a small no-name unit and a Coleman ice chest sized unit. Both work well. I get about 40 degrees cooler then the ambient temperature once everthing is cool. If you put cold items in one, they stay cold. Put hot items in them and they are cool in 6 to 8 hours.

Most of these are pretty easy on the battery drain assuming you have a good battery to start with. I use mine on long road trips so, the occasional stop along the way is no problem.

An overnight run on one unit won't kill my car battery. A full day requires jumper cables and my drinks will be warm.

Now the compressor jobs that are used in Marine applications (sea based) and 4x4 shops are in a whole different class. They are probably better then most household refridgerators.
