After 20+ years of great service it was time to say farewell to my buddies.

I think most of you can relate to the feeling of getting rid of your trusty boots after being in so much with them together.

I bought these 20+ years ago. They are the Meindl Makalu with goretex lining. I'd still use them if it wasn't for the fact that the last couple of hikes I noticed that the support these shoes are supposed to give was lacking more and more. So I decided a "ritual slaughter" was the last respectful thing to do...

I replaced my trusty boots with the new "classic" Meindl Perfekt. Break-in is needed but they feel very secure and comfy already

Impressive boots. Impressive cutting. Impressive NEW boots (from Cabela's). If I didn't have a pair of Red Wings (really more work boot than hiking), I'd consider grabbing a pair. They look awesome.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks, but please note that the Cabela's Perfekt by Meindl, is NOT the same as my new Meindl Perfekt . The former is a Special Make-Up by Meindl for Cabela's and is a backpacking/medium-weight/Category B hiking boot.
The latter (my new boots), is an alpine trekking/heavy-weight/Category C mountaineering boot."

It seems that the famous (in Europe) Meindl Perfekt can't be bought at Cabela's (or maybe nowhere in the US). For more info see www.Meindl.de
