These knives look pretty similar . . .

...yeah but in shape and length only. The flat area on the finished knife is not the same as the cheapo, and the grinds look very GOOD. And even IF the person used the original as a base, there is FAR more work done to it to make it into the beauty it is now.

Let's see:
reground blade
handrubbed blade
Pearl scales ($$)
(Pinned, not 'bolted' on)
hand engraved bolster area

What do I think? I think someone did some great work there, and it took a LOT of time. I also think that for $180 it's a bargain, even IF it started like a 'kit'. Believe me, I know.

So what did you think? Is this an attempt to get us all fired up? Looks like an honest deal.

This doesn't belong in Custom Forum and is being rerouted.

I agree with Coop 100% and on top off re-heat treat the blade before putting on the peral handles!

Perhaps the more expensive knife is the original, and the cheaper one is a "knock-off". This sort of thing is very very very common in the knife world (especially when the Chinese are involved).

The other day I was flipping channels, and came across the Home Shopping Network, and they had a seemingly great offer; it was something along the lines of 120 knives $200. The knives may look good on TV, and a fair amount of design may go into them- they have liner locks, or lockbacks, but as knives, they suck. They fall apart, they aren't sharp, they are just junk which are made overseas for only pennies, and the American businesses bring them here and sell them cheap, but for large profit.

-I am not talking about Spyderco or CRKT, which are decent knives made in Asia,
I am talking about Frost, and Emco, and a few other companies that thrive off of Americans' unsatiable need to save a buck or two on nothin' but fecal matter.

The only thing similar is the outline. Blade length is longer on the more expensive knife. The grind lines on the more expensive knife do not meet in the center of the blade as they do on the cheapo. The cheapo is a copie of an OSS lapel knife. The more expensive dagger is made to be a (looks to me) boot knife.
LIke what was stated I don't know if you made this thread to start a rucus or not but in my eyes I see a big difference in these two knives.

I didn't mean they were the same exactly, but if they were a heck of a lot of work went into it to get the knife on the right is all and like others have said a deal at $180 no matter how it was made?
