I have been trying to put a date on this 5 spacer number 1 for a long time I cant seem to nail it down either here or anyplace else..it does not have the original stone it has an USAF survival knife gray stone.

As for the 14 I know its a 80's model with the Johnson smooth back fine stitched sheath I just decided to add it for style points. :)

don't worry about the MACV-SOG Knife :)

I'll let other, more knowledgeable, people comment on the age of your model 1. But it's funny you should mention the MACV-SOG knife (more correctly called a CISO Recon knife). I've been thinking that it would be a pretty simple thing to have the new 4-6 Fighter made up as a pretty close approximation of that knife. Here's a lousy cell-phone snapshot of the new non-catalog ionsert showing that knife as 11-5:

I'm thinking I just might have to do this.

Im a huge fan of the vietnam sog knives I will have to post a photo of my Ben Baker autographed sog knives I have a utility and a recon signed by him.

Samael,

Not sure if you know, but there was a limited edition "Randall Recon" series produced by the shop a few years ago. It was a leather handled 7" Model 3 with brass hardware, a double hilt and sharpened clip:

There were also a few "original" Randall Recons ordered during the Vietnam war era. This one just predates the formation of MACV-SOG in 1964:

Best,

Sure was aware of that, Ron, but it's always good to have photos to drool over.
