Just thought I'd give a shout out to Scrap Yard Knives for the great job they did on the sheaths I bought from them recently to go with my CGDF and S6. They are a great deal for the price I paid for them and will do the job just fine. If the knives look like they are brand spankin' new it's because they pretty much are. I got them both about two months ago and I haven't got the chance to break them in yet...only some minor backyard firewood chopping :grumpy: . I have to let them stretch their legs sometime soon because I have an CGSOD on the way I ordered at about the same time as these two. Here are some pictures...

Their are some great things about these sheaths and then there are some not-so-great things that I would like to critique. The fit on the CGDF sheath is superb with solid lockup and practically zero chance of the blade shaking loose. The lockup on the S6 sheath is a way too tight for my liking. It takes a humongous effort on my part to insert and extract the knife from the sheath and I'm a fairly solid guy (6' 1" @ 230 lbs). I do understand that every knife is a little different even if they are production specimens, so the knife that they molded the sheath with probably was a bit different.

The other thing about the sheaths I would change if it were up to me was the fact that there are no lashing points or holes. SY uses screws to bind the sheath and I would use rivets so that you could lash the sheath to something or give a smaller knife a piggyback. I must admit that I knew this about the sheaths before I bought them so I knew what I was getting into.

However, make no mistake about it these sheaths are a great deal for the money and I probably would buy them again if given the chance. I like the thumb push point they molded into both sheaths too aid with having enough thumb purchase to get the knives out of the sheath when worn on a belt. I probably could take care of the no rivet situation by setting some myself and I suppose I could remold the sheaths to get a better fit but I don't want to end up ruining them.

Does anyone have an idea of how to go about adjusting the fit of my S6 sheath? I don't think there is an adjustment screw or something I would have noticed right off the bat that I could make adjustments to...

Oh yeah, great job Scrap Yard!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
