They lost my rifle!

As you know, I recently purchased a new Marlin 45-70 from a local sporting goods store who shall remain nameless. They told me they had the rifle at a Minnesota store, and the rifle would be "sent right over."

Well, the thing never showed. My wife and I went there again yesterday and a manager searched the computer and even did some paper chase work. They can't even prove that the rifle existed.

However, they found another one in Michigan, and it is being "sent right over."

I can't blame the guys at my local store, they performed customer service. With our move and some household repair work done over the past two years we've noticed that you have to call people at least three times before they actually show. Had I asked for the rifle ONCE and walked out of the store and never followed up, the Minnesota rifle order would have been 'lost,' no one would have checked and the store would be out of the money. Luckily, I didn't put anything down on the rifle.

My wife and I talked about this on the way home. This better be one heck of a rifle. They might lose the sale yet!
