They make them like they used to, right?

My slipjoints are all old purchases, a Stockman and a Trapper Schrade Waldens, and I know nothing apart from such knives other than what I've gleaned from this forum and a few knife sites.

So I was wondering, my Schrades are fine enough, maybe wonderful user knives, with good fit and finish, but similar slipjoints are still made just as good and better?

So the Golden Age is gone but the Silver Age is fine too...or something like that?

Some of the Schrade knives were high-quality, but some of the Schrade brands (Imperial, Tradesman) were designed to be ultra-cheap and the quality was hit-or-miss. Other Schrade product lines (Uncle Henry, OldTimer) were designed to be low-priced but solid work knives - the quality of most was very good, but not always perfect.

Today there are many brands of pocketknives that are just as good as the best Schrade knives and much better than Schrade's budget-priced products. Queen Cutlery, Case, Boker, Canal Street Cutlery, William Henry, etc.

Best Wishes,
Bob
