Amazing how new, rare blades show up on the secondary market nearly as soon as they ship. Makes me a little sad that some really special blades some people would have loved to add to their collection where snapped up seemingly with the intent to flip for a profit. Not saying it is wrong, just saying it can be a bummer to people that didn't score the first time around for whatever reason.

and then there is the ocassional -somehow- being sold on the secondary market even though they haven't been shipped from the factory yet blades.

it's a hard economy, and I can't blame someone for trying to make a few extra dollars in that way. most of the first time around special offers just comes down to speed and f5 power.

They always do... But, there is more than one reason... Maybe the original buyer loved it in the pic but it doesn't fit this person's hand well, or a financial crunch happened between the score and the delivery, or maybe they bought with the intent to use but can't bring themselves to use it. Or maybe they were offered a specific blade that they've been hunting for, and now have to give up other Busse's to pay for it... Yes, some are surely bought to 'flip', but it's not the only reason why some knives hit the secondary market so quickly.

This subject comes up pretty frequently, hopefully this thread stays mellow... :)

I agree with Jaxx, the only reason I sell my blades is so I can pay for more!

Yes, This is the only subject that has ever tested my strong belief in "Free Market".

What, That guy is selling a gallon of water for $200.00 after the hurricane? Tough, you should have bought some beforehand!

What, that guy is selling Busses that he bought only to make money on? Get a rope!

Yes, I have to fight myself to keep from becoming a hipocrit. :o

I am agree with you all and opinion . what i want to say ; you know the worth your Busse Knife thru secondary Market, is`t it,

The good news is that if a specific model catches your fancy you can always buy it on the secondary market

I have twice bought an extra of a knife offered in a ganza thinking that I might want to sell it later. But then it gets here and I start thinking to myself "what happens if I need another one or shouldn't I keep one in nice condition?!? Well I obviously can't sell it now!" :D So now I just buy one (or two if it's really cool) :p

Yeah, this is a tricky topic. I usually only buy knives I think I'll want to keep, but I never know until I have them hand. I prefer to evaluate knives first hand than in pictures. So the result is that sometimes I sell knives I've just bought. I believe in the free market, but I also care about my reputation, so I try to be fair when re-listing a knife. I often email the initial seller too and explain why I've decided to sell it, so they don't think I'm a flipper. When you develop close relationships, and people give you good deals on stuff because they know you'll appreciate it, it's not just about the free market, it's also about honoring that friendliness and trying to pass it on to the next guy.

I also agree with Jaxx on this. I have probably sold a Blade at one time or another for each of those reasons. Sometimes I would buy two in a Ganza and think I was going to keep one mint and make the other a user and then decide it wasn't for me and sold both. Anyway, I'm glad the secondary market is fairly strong, this way as I see a blade I really want I can go for it within reason. Sometimes I make a few dollars and sometimes I lose a few. It sorta averages out and lets me continue with my infidiction.:D

i agree:thumbup:

I have bought blades and resold them pretty quickly myself... thats the nice thing about Busses and the secondary market... you can spend a few hundred on a blade just to see if you like it... if you don't you can sell it.

A great perspective George...I agee 100%

I can vouch for this as true from firsthand experience. George is a good guy, and even though it didn't make much difference to me, I appreciated him contacting me to let me know.

Fine if no one else is going to ask I will, lol.....what blade popped up where?

I saw the hg55 mil overrun from the ganza on a certain (in)famous auction site a day after the emails went out!

I tend to do back-room deals first with a rare blade I can't hold onto. Esp. if it's a HOG that LOVES that blade. I'm sorta helpin them out.

New "rare" blades??? I've dumped all my new "rare" blades - but every single one of them was held for several months. I just couldn't justify the logjam in my Busse budget.

But to each his own. I will say I've been helped out by someone who scored what I wasn't willing or able to score. And I paid for it. And I have NO regrets. (F'rinstance, I wasn't gonna spend the $ to buy extra Cultelli just to get the snakeskin one. Scored the Snake anyhoo. The vig was well worth it to not have to trade out 2 more knives.)

Viva la Free Market!
