They were loathsome,offensive brutes.Yet I couldn't look away.

So there's this antique shop near here.I went for a look a couple of weeks ago for the first time. A few bayonets, some old penknives mostly worn out by the look. The proprietress informed me that one of the dealers was coming in next week with a load of old knives. "Ah'll Be Baack" said I.
After sorting his box full of knives into three separate piles after he asked me which ones were valuable- "junk"(franklin mint type techno blades with Harley pipes on the handle)"collectibles"(a lot of old army knives and a couple of worn out penknives)and "mine". Here are the spoils.

The old richartz stockman is built like a swiss watch. Main blade is worn down a bit but still plenty of steel left.

Can't quite make the brand stamp out on this one.The word at the bottom is RENOWN.
The scales are a most unappealing colour. It reminds of snot. They are interesting because I believe they are jigged AND scratted.

Great haul Brother, That Saynor pruner is a killer. Whats the handle material, looks like horn but can't really tell from the pics.

Best regards

Robin

Nice finds! That pruner is the pick of the litter IMO, but all are good snags:thumbup:

Going on vacation in the morn. Or as I like to say " on the hunt". I hope to have some of your luck sir. If I do I will report back.

Some very nice finds there my friends, congratulations. The Rodgers Navy Knife is a beaut, and the Saynor is a very interesting knife. Is that a Blyde Girl Guide Knife lurking away in the background? Nice Stockman, and Richards made a very good clasp knife in my experience. We need to see more of these  I can almost smell the old grease on those clasp knives, ahhh! :D

There was a collection of the navys and clasps .Yes E Blyde 'guide knife'.

:D

At any rate, nice haul!

Nice Haul alright Meako, The Saynor is a great one! probably Checkered Ebony or Bakelite? The JR Claps knife is a great one as well!!! and I love the Bone on the Stockman - great viewing!
Edit: I was meant to say I was lucky enough to score a beauty Saynor the other day - Lovely Bone example - just waiting for it to arrive!

Cheers mate. definitely bakelite on the Saynor rather than ebony. It also has DEPEND stamped on the tang.
R8Shell- sneeze would definitely be a front runner because of the colour of the bone:thumbup:

I came across a Saynor Pruner with Bakelite scales like this one earlier, not had a chance to take a pic yet. Guy I bought it from said he'd bought a parcel of Saynor stock years ago. It'll be in the post ASAP Duncan ;)

LATE EDIT - Adding a very poor pic :o
