I completed the heat treating and tempering of my 5160 handmade knives yesterday. Today I put the final edge on em and tried them out. They both take a super sharp edge, shave easily and take off thin slices of writing paper. I did some light wood chopping (they`re small knives),carving, removed bark then cut 400 total inches of thick cardboard with each and they still shaved and cut as well as before! I was thrilled, the techniques I read about here on the forums worked perfectly. A few little details, putting the grip scales on and shaping them and they`re done. Thanks for all the help and encouragement guys,I wouldn`t even have tried it if it weren`t for the forums. BTW I`m picking up a belt grinder and small propane furnace next week. This could be habit forming.

You bet Darrel. I`m waiting on grip scales from Texas Knifemaker`s Supply and I still have some polishing to do but they should be ready in a week or so. Marcus
