I never liked the crazy blade designs of Spyderco knives up until I got my ladybug 3.
I bought it because I needed a $30 key chain :) sort of a impulse buy.
There are still only a few select blades that call to me but the quality of this little lady has me hooked.
The Paramilitary 2 would be my ultimate folder for sure,Manix 2,then Delica 4 and the Dragonfly 2.
Now..is it worth starting with the DF2 and working my way up the latter or save for a while and get my #1 pick.

I would save up and get the Para2. I got my first one a little while ago (one of the sprints) and love it; now it's pretty much all I carry (bumped out the Caly 3 and Endura 4 FFG). Great ergonomics, design, fit and finish, and you can tweak the pivot and stop pin to get the opening/closing resistance and motion just right for you.

I've got one of the Ladybugs on my keyring, too; it's the perfect companion to the PM2 for those little things around "sensitive people."

Like the lays commercial, once you pop, you cant stop. Any knife that your not breaking the bank on and you want, is worth saving up for IMO. The delayed gratification can can be rewarding and then your not left with a bunch of cheapos as you advance in this hobby. My delica 4 was my first spydie and I had it for about a year before I really warmed up to it. After that I convinced myself I needed a sage 1 to get a feel for the FFG blades and have something a little classier. That was a year ago. I now have (in order of purchased): delica 4, sage 1, caly3, dragonfly2 g10, lum chinese, leafstorm, manix 2, manix 2 moonglow, manix 2 orange, para 2 orange.

My collection is filled with redundancy but you know what, they fill my needs and I couldn't be happier. Get whatever makes you giddy and dont worry too much what the knife/steel dayjour is. You should always save up for #1 I think. You'll have them all sooner or later anyways

Buy in the order. All of these are good knives. This will be more expensive, but you will experience all this knives. I doubt that after you buy Para2, you will stop. Other knives will be calling your name. :)

I think going straight for the Paramili2 would spoil me for lesser knives which can be fun to use hard without too much worry.I might just get a couple under my belt before going for it.

I don't need carbon fiber nor S90V but it would be nice.
That's classy San Diego.

singularity35 how's that,better?

I felt the same way about Spyderco's, until I got an Endura 4 FRN. I was floored. Soon after I got a Native FRN, a Dragonfly 2, and a Manix 2 Lightweight. I am contemplating selling a few of my non-spydies to get either a Para 2 or a Superleaf.

Try the Dragonfly 2. I was surprised at the ergonomics and since im an urban EDC'er, the blade is sized perfectly for what i need to do.

The Para 2 is my favorite by far, but that didn't stop me from ordering a Delica and Ladybug Salt this weekend. Go for the gusto and get the Para 2, think of it as the foundation of your addiction!

I'm starting this Spyderco kick off all wrong.
By putting the Paramili2 on a pedestal and looking at carbon fiber,I can already see myself babying it too much. This knife is a looker and a performer and should be treated as such.
G10 it is,I found plenty of them out there under $120,saving.......NoW.

Which knife closest resembles the Dragonfly 2 ?
I'm already planing my next purchase and that blade shape is one of my favorites,
the high thumb ramp and tapered spine make it look mean,if only it was about 3/4" longer.

You expressed interest in the Manix 2. I would give that one a try, I love it and have 3. The stretch is also on my short list and you can get it in zdp-189 which is a nice change from the vg10 and s30v that is standard these days. The caly 3 is sorta similar but discontinued in the vg10/black g10. It can still be had in CF with a zdp composite blade.

I think the Sage is a little closer to the Dragonfly 2 then Manix 2 ,but I'm looking for still more thumb ramp.
How about some older models that I'm not aware of.
Just checked out the Stretch.....that' one of those knives only a mother could love.

I have all of these except the stretch and I would say the thumb ramp on the sage is much closer to the feel of the Manix 2's thumbramp. The caly 3 and Dragonfly 2 have similar thumb ramps. The stretch is ugly as sin yes, but it feels so good in hand. Function over form as always. Just get them all :p
