Decided yesterday to try using Cow bone for handle material.
Bought a couple large bleached bones from the local petfood store and started sawing away. By the time I had gotten them flat enough to use even in the thickest parts wound up around 3/16" thick.

Any other source of bone out there besides Giraffe that is thicker?

If you know of a butcher shop or a moble slaughter person they'd gladly give you the bones your after. The heavest bones on a cow are the shin bones just above the toes....
Thats if your wanting to process it yourself.....

What Ray said. Use FRESH shin bone. If you want a recipe to dye it, shoot me an email.
