Does anyone know where I can get some 1.25 thick black g10 or micarta sheets? I can't find much over 1".

Sheffield has large blocks...not sure how much over an inch though.

The other place I would try is Canmanstan...google that and micarta blocks. Should pop up. I got a large natural piece for them that was used on a hidden tang knife. Seems to be nice quality.

The butt of my knives is usually larger considering I make larger blades. 1.25 gives me a little room to compensate for any issues that may arise in forming the handle.

Get it from industrial suppliers, like McMaster-Carr. It is called garrolite by machinists.

I have some natural canvas "micarta" sheets in 3 thicknesses, 3/4", 1" and 11/2". it's not actually westinghouse micarta but made by another company and listed as "LP509 Mil-spec phenolic" and makes a great handle, so if you're interested PM me. I'll post pics when i get home.

Would anyone here put enough faith in G-flex to secure 3 pieces of 1/2 inch micarta together for making a hidden tang Bowie?

I figured. I wouldn't hesitate doing it. I was just curious why it wasn't mentioned. I saw some of guinea hog forges knives at blade that had this done on hidden tangs and I could not find the joint even though I knew where it should be. If your goal is to make a larger butt why not rough shape the handle then epoxy some extra micarta to the backend and form to your desired shape?

clever!

That would not be a good idea. The butt would have no strength beyond the rather small cross sectional glue line, and could break off.
An end to end glue line that is parallel to the blade, as would be with a laminated Micarta handle, would be much stronger. Use a good grade resin and it should be nearly invisible as well as strong. Adding a few side to side rivets make the sandwich more than suitable for a knife handle.
