Thick or thin-walled tubing,,,?

I've always used thin wall. Since the can is low carbon steel and something you want to get rid of, the less you have to start with the less you have to get rid of later. I find that most of the thin wall can peels off or burns off during drawing the billet out. I start with a 3" cube and draw it to abrout 11 x 1.3 x 1.3 (without the can). If you have trouble with your handle falling off, weld a piece of 2" angle iron to the end of the can and weld your handle to it. This doesn't always cure the problem but goes a long way in that direction.
