What companies sell new, heavyweight wool blankets? Preferably in OD or brown. Thanks.

Penedleton makes a selection of wool blankets. I tend not to want to spend that much money and lean toward the surplus stuff at places like Cheaper Than Dirt.

I've got a couple from cheaperthandirt.com and there great. There new but they stink of mothballs when you get them. Just air them out for a couple days and then wash them and there great blankets. 100% Italian wool. I keep one in the jeep and one on my bed.

Pendleton blankets are the best if you can find them on sale. High quality, super warm, durable and soft (not itchy wool). I have found some great deals online. Also, if you are ever in Portland Oregon, there is an outlet store with a ton of blankets marked way down all year round.

wilde weavery make the best...however do not believe she is making anymore....it's worth a search on the secondary market

Hudson's Bay Blanket is another contender

Dont know if they make brown or OD

As stated. Both cheaper than dirt and sportsmans guide used to sell surplus Italian wool blankets (the real deal). Lots of them were unissued. I bought several a few years ago. Have one on my bed as we speak. They were not gonna please the ladies for bedroom beauty but were brown, large and heavy. Unfortunately I do not see them on their websites right now. It might be worth a call to see if they will get them back anytime soon.
Edit: In the case that they are not coming soon, I did a search and this is what they look like. I paid about 10 bux for them just a few years ago but ????? Looks like they can be ordered here https://www.mainemilitary.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=&idproduct=3195

I bought a dozen from sportsman's guide in 2009 but they were wool blend(70/30 I think), but I get my OD wool from a local Army Surplus shop for about $18 which is great. Here's a link to some decent priced surplus and new wool blankets. It looks like a pretty good site with good choices. Cheaper than dirt had the wool blend about a year ago but I can't speak for right now. They're not bad but no where near as good as the 100%er's.

EDIT: This site has 100% wool for an okay price. This is the same one I have and its as warm as my feather down comforter.

Me three. The other day, I had just been thinking about searching the forums for places that sell wool blankets when I saw this thread.

Those Italian surplus ones are the best Ive seen for the price. I've had several for about 15 yrs and they're still in good shape.--KV

You guys are several months late, but Sierra Trading Post had a number of these at closeout specials as shown in their archived link. I bought (3) of the brown Italian blankets and (1) similar but poorer quality gray Russian army surplus blanket using coupon codes for further discounts. S-T-P said to dry clean, but I machine washed instead on gentle cycle. It took a few washings with Woolite to remove the mothball odor, then line air dried to further freshen. I really like the Italian blankets. I keep one in my travel trailer as a bedding "topper" for really cold nights and the other two reserved for emergencies. The gray Russian blanket pilled quite a bit after washing, but is in back of my truck cab and is a matching color. Sorry, I'm keeping 'em all! :D

Edit: I now see the prior posted link to Maine Military Supply for same Italian blanket(s) that I bought from S-T-P (although I paid $23.96/ea for 3 + $10 shipping ;) )
