Thicker More Utility Type Reverse S blade?

There's been a lot of talk here of late about Hawkbill and Reverse S blades here lately. Both are favorites of mine>> however there is one thing I think Spyderco could do to raise the bar so to speak with their Reverse S blades. As many of you know with the Matriarch and Civilian models come with disclaimers about tip breakage being a potential problem and they advise you not to use them as utility knives. Well that's great for "self defense" type blades but why not a Reverse S blade for "utility" uses and even hard uses? In other words a beefed up Matriarch model?

With the Matriarch and Dodo models being my two personal favorites of all the Reverse S blades I've been wondering why Spyderco couldn't make a utility version of the Matriarch>> or even a bigger scale, more bulky Dodo model. A Matriarch model with a much thicker blade with maybe a G-10 handle to make it more rigid and you could open up a lot of potential uses that you currently don't have with the Matriarch model as we have it now.

Who would be in favor of a Matriarch with a thicker, utility blade? Or maybe some of you have other ideas along these lines?

I understand the Lil Matriarch to be more along these lines. Of course it's ...little. And only at BBS now.

I think a Delica sized handle with an EDC type reverse S or hawkbill would be awesome. I find the Matriarch 2/Endura handle a little too long, and one finger groove too many for every day use.

I would actually prefer a full sized Matriarch model with a thicker, more bulky blade for the work I do. However I would not at all object to a Lil Matriarch model with a bulky blade either. And I can understand why you and others would prefer a smaller Reverse S blade because everyone's cutting needs are certainly different. Not to mention many places have draconian, super strict laws on blade length :(. I've been really blessed living here in Missouri because they are reasonably relaxed about blade length as long as you are a law abiding person who actually uses your knife doing legitimate work.

For that reason I would also lobby for a Lil Matriarch with a bulky blade as well. Actually the more I think about it I'm wondering if a beefed up Reverse S blade wouldn't have some significant advantages over most of the Hawkbill folders that Spyderco has made available to us. It will make for an interesting discussion and could also make for an interesting debate as well.

Just consider how many more utility type cutting jobs you could do with a really beefed up Reverse S blade. Especially if they really added a couple of millimeters of thickness to the Lil Matriarch. It would truly be a little bulldog of a knife. With the way most fishermen and other guys in seafaring trades really gravitate toward Hawkbill blades I think a super-thick, Reverse S blade could even provide more penetrating power and some extra muscle that most Reverse S blades just don't have.

The standard Matriarch model would not only still be a premium self defense knife but would also be capable of many other jobs currently not considered with the present model. I would ask all you fans of the Matriarch and Civilian to really think this idea over carefully. And you could use one of the Nitrogen based blade steels or even one of the Supersteels for a Sprint Run. Personally I would love a Reverse S blade with bulk and rigidity.
