Hi,

I love my alox pioneer, partly because of the thicker gauge blade, tools, and other implements; as compared to a standard victorinox Swiss Army knife.

does the Swiss tool spirit line have a blade and tools that are thicker like the alox, or thinner like the standard Swiss army?

bonus question- is it possible to get a Swiss tool spirit with black oxide coating AND the ratchet set?

You probably know this, but Swisstool Spirit is a plier-based MT with many implements and many of the tool implements have different shapes, so we maybe comparing apple to orange when we compare an Alox to Spirit.

1) But having said that, here is what I observed when I put a 91mm/93mm/Spirit side-by-side.

In terms of measuring blade thickness at the widest part, this is how I would rank them: 93mm > Spirit > 91mm. But Spirit is shorter in blade height, so it is thicker behind the edge and also thicker at the tip.

In terms of can opener, 93mm Alox generally is slightly thicker and beefier than 91mm. 93mm can opener is 0.2mm thicker than both Spirit and 91mm, but Spirit has a much longer ricasso on the can opener than the other two.

In terms of Flathead, thickness wise, Sprit > 93mm > 91mm. Spirit flathead is legendary, almost twice the thickness as 93mm, and I always use it for light prying.

2) In terms of 'ruggedness', the short answer is I would rank them as Spirit > 93mm > 91mm, but I am perfectly fine with 91mm tool implements and find them adequate for my EDC use.

3) Different region may have different product number for a BO Spirit with ratchet set, but in US, I believe the ID number is 53819.

Thank you comis comis !

I can’t seem to find that model 53819 anywhere for sale. I guess it was discontinued? If you’ve got any leads would you please let me me know?
