Thickess of Sebenza 21 Large with and without Inlay comparison request

Hi all,

I've using a Strider SMF from a long while, however since I sometimes wear suits or some fitter type of clothing,
The strider becomes a bit bulk in the pocket. It is not long, but it's thick...
I wanted something decent, but with same lenght of blade (+-), so I thought about (finally) getting a sebenza 21.

I wanted to compare the thickness of them, with and without the inlays.

The regular Strider SMF Micarta that I have has a thickness a tiny bit less of 9/16 inch, so I wanted to compare them before I buy the sebenza.

thanks

Can't help you, BUT I can give you some other thicknesses that I am aware of:
BM 710 is 0.480". Mini-rukus is .615". Spyderco PM2 is .450". BM 755 MPR is .610". HK 14205 is 0.581".

Your Strider SMF Micarta at ~ 9/16", is a bit less than 0.563".

My BM 755 MPR is a great knife, but at 0.610", it is blocky. One fellow, in a review, called it "a bit of a fat boy."
If I could figure a way to put it on a diet, I would.

The inlays on the Sebenza's barely rise higher than the screws so in pocket, there's no way to tell/feel the difference between an inlaid or plain model. In the hand, the inlaid models fill the hand more than the plain models and have a warmer feel too.

Having a slimmer profile also makes the Sebenza less of a pocket-hog than a lot of other designs.

My Micarta Sebenza thickness comes in around 9/16.

What Undertow said. I've had both and much, much prefer the inlaid model. While it is not much there is a difference in the feel as the inlaid does feel a tad thicker, along with a better feel overall, not to mention how classy it looks!

Thanks for the reply guys.

Yeah, I know that the inlay model is a lot more class, it gives a huge difference in the looks of the knife.

However, it seems that the difference between thickness of the SMF and the CRK is practically the same...

Although the thickness might be the same, the width and length in the pocket will be different. I find that the large 21 is only slightly bigger than a BM 943--which most people deem to disappear in the pocket.
