Nothing worse than having your stuff stolen right out in front of your house. My wife and I both had presents for our kids delivered by FedEx ripped right from our front steps. Value was over a couple hundred dollars . Fortunately this year we are doing better financially than we have since this recession crippled my main business so its not like its going to ruin our kids Christmas but that's not the point.

So keep a watchful eye out for friends and neighbors .. The next few days I am sure they will be out in full force.

Happy Holiday everyone !

Seems to be a lot of that this year. Everyday it seems our local news is reporting something similar...people snatching packages right off people's porches.

Got no use for a sneak thief

I wonder if the thieving scum even follow the ups truck around?

I hope you have a Merry Christmas otherwise!

We have been hit by thieves breaking into rural mail group boxes. These are easy targets for theives and the new ones are easier for them to break into. Hard times are bringing the worst out of some people.

Just a couple days ago the police caught a woman who was following the delivery trucks and snatching the packages. They only charged her with two counts, but recovered hundreds of packages. The police delivered all that still had the labels on them, but have over a hundred that have already been unpacked and could not be matched to a person for delivery. They had squad cars going all over the city dropping off Christmas packages with this message - "Merry Christmas from your local police." They have put a notice in the paper and online that anyone who didn't get a delivery should call the station and tell them what was in the package. One officer said it was nice to interact in a positive manor with the public. He said most of the time he goes to the door of a house people automatically think, "What have I done wrong", or "Who Died."

I like your story Stacy.
It would be even better if they posted the name and a photograph of the thief so everyone could know who was stealing their Christmas presents.

Her face was on the front page of the paper this morning, with the caption "Grinch who stole Christmas".

People can really suck .. I also had a Japanese Tanto that was part of the packages that were stolen . So now I am really pissed. They left my priority mail alone which had a nice block of Walnut and another package from UPS was still there. I was expecting to come in it home today and have a neighbor say they got our packages. We own a house in a nice older subdivision and all my immediate neighbors are friends.

I feel like FedEx delivered to the wrong address because this just is not adding up. I have packages delivered constantly . Rarely do we get anything from FedEx . I have never lost a package before . I have also never had a package I sent out not delivered so this is all new to me. I always use my credit card when I have items shipped and then when I get them I pay that online. My wife on the other hand paid with a debit card so I feel that one will be on us. I will figure out what I am going to do in the coming days.

Well....After all the anguish we received a call from FedEx informing us that they actually lost our packages . I was told to contact vendors to tell them packages have been lost.

THEN .. My neighbor comes over sheepishly and hands me two boxes that were underneath a blanket .. Apparently there house keeper placed them there and forgot to mention they had a delivery .

So I got a sweet new Tanto and my oldest daughter gets her gifts as well.
