My wife bought some $90 speakers for her computer yesterday to use at school (she's a library media specialist/teacher). As I was pulling them out of the car, she said "No, just leave them in there. I'm taking them to school tomorrow." Fast forward to this morning at 5:00 AM, I get woken up frantically because my wife was going to the gym to work out and noticed her dome light was on in her car (which was in the garage, not attached). The speakers were gone. On a positive note, Mr. Dumbfukk neglected to steal my $1700 road bike that was hanging from a hook three feet away, my $1000 mountain bike which was right next to it, and about once a week I leave my laptop ($1200 iBook) and my diagnostic equipment (several thousand dollars) in my car overnight. The difference is I always lock my car, even when it's in the garage.

Anyway, it could've been a lot worse, but we were pretty pissed off. Of course, all of our outdoor lights were burned out, our next door neightbor's motion light that goes off whenever someone walks down the driveway was out, and our two stupid dogs who bark at stuff three blocks away never even twitched.

Sorry to hear about it.Proves just how dumb criminals are.
One thing I cant abide is a thief.
First thing ever stolen from me was my buck 110 folder that my dad gave me.
I actually put some more stuff in the car and staked it out hoping the bastard would come back

Doc,
You'd like to replace the speakers, make a big todo about it at the same store you got the originals, secretly remove the speakers and put them in the house, replace them, in the speaker box, with a dismond back rattler, and let the SOB steal that package!
Trouble is you would probably be held liable by our twisted criminal justice system that protects the criminal more than the victims.

Or maybe stake out the new set and be well armed....but really, wouldn't you feel terrible taking out someone over a $90 set of speakers....or the real crime committed is the son of a female dog invaded and vilolated your home/ your safe haven/ your castle......

It sucks to have to lock your car in your own driveway, let alone your own garage, but unfortunately that is too often true nowdays....

Hope it doesn't happen to you again.

That sucks man. My neighbor started out a landscaping business and he completely built and welded together a large, tandem-axle trailer from scratch. It looked like a pofessional deal. On top of that he had two brand-new zero-radius mowers and a few other odds and ends. The one day he didn't put the mowers in the garage, some thieves broke the lock on the coupler and stole his trailer during the middle of the day!!!!

I guess there's been a rash of that lately, so you fellows with nice boats and trailers -- keep 'em safe.

Someone told me a story about their house being broke into. They were gone, the thieves broke in, made a night of it, and stole EVERYTHING of remote value. They had an attached garage, and a van, so the thieves put all the stuff in these people's van, then drove off in the early morning with half their house and the van. When the cops got there to take the statement, one of them noticed a lone car parked in front of the robbed peoples' house. He asked if it was theirs, and it wasn't, and another cop said "I think that's the So-and-So brothers' car..." I geuss these were well-known petty criminals in town. Sure enough, it was their car, so they left a cop at the house and a few hours after they cleared out the guy came to pick up his car, got arrested, and the people got their van and stuff back. Duh!

When I lived in Oregon my whole Truck was stolen. Made me feel sick to my stomach! I hate that.UGH.......

I LIKE THIS IDEA! :D

Very similar to wiring a shotgun to your front door or window to catch a thief during a B&E on your premesis ...highly illegal. Go directly to jail ...do not pass 'Go', do not collect $200. :)

sh i$$ heads
I caught some guys vandalizing my markey (spelling) sign early one morning
the dumb shits cam back to see what they did for damage.
I went after them in the car, they thought I was a cop flashing my light at them to stop, they stopped,,, once they knew I was going to rip
the driver out of the car the floored it.
I got into a high speed chase with them, (I forgot to get the plate number because I was so wild..) I got close enough to the car to get the plate number and backed off,,, someone was going to die if I didn't. I called the numbers in and
the cops caught them 19 miles a way in the next town..
3 of them paid after court time..
if I had a base ball bat with me I would have used it. man was I hot when they took off.. I don't care if it was .10 wrong is wrong....

I've had a few things stolen over the years, the thing that pissed me off the worst was a box of tools I'd made for my journeymanship, I had 5 piar of stainless steel tongs, a damascus hammer, a wrought iron hammer with a steeled face, my touchmark, 3 hand forged files, and a 30 pound hand forged anvil. I'd made all of them (I had help with the anvil) and haden't even used them yet, when one day I showed up to the shop... and the whole box was GONE.

A few years later, I found some low quality iron work with my mark on it, we're talking cold bent and tack welded. The worst thing was, the crappy iron being sold as antique, and was atributed to "a 19th century master" even though the word journeyman was right on the mark.

I staked the place selling the iron out for months.... never did get any leads.

I had a war hammer with me in case I did find the guy.

Good luck with your problem, I hope you get satisfaction one way or another.

Tony

Sorry to hear about that chiro. :( That's one thing I can't stand is a thief. The other is a sneak. I had a nice ten speed bike taken right out of my yard! When my son was younger he used to ride it. He forgot and left it in the front yard near the road. I didn't realize it was gone for about a week or so because I didn't ride it anymore. Where I live out in the sticks you usually don't have to worry much but occasionally some thievery does happen.
