Ok, so I received the M43 and thought I'd put together a thigh-rig to help keep the pants up when placing this 30 oz monster on my belt. I bought a universal thigh holster on one of the auction sites, cost me about $18.00. The gun holster is removable and after making a new frog, I was able to attach the khuk. Unsheathing is not too bad, but I think I'll try to make a pancake style quick-draw kydex sheath next. Then I'll be ready for some zombies!!

I know...I know...I'm such a geek...

Steal away...just be prepared for your wife to laugh at you and ask, "So when's the apocalypse?"

Cool idea on the holster.

Hmm, strange, but I can't seem to remember my wife ever laughing when commenting on my khukuris. ;)

I dig it!!!

can ya show the reverse of the sheath?? I wanna see how it is all put together

Since the whole thing is black it is difficult to take a photo of. The cool thing about these thigh holsters is that they are available in about six different colors/camo patterns. From top to bottom: the rig begins with a velcro loop that attaches to your belt, about four inches. Then a plastic snap connector (I forget what you call them) so that you can unattach the lower portion without undoing the belt. From the plastic connector is another few inches that intersects with the thigh strap, connecting with velcro. The thigh strap itself has the oval shaped pad with a separate strap that is sewed horizontally and obviously connects with another plastic connector.

So, to attach a sheath, I removed the original frog. I then took a piece of leather and slipped it between the top plastic connector and the oval pad. There is a double loop of strap there. Tied both ends of the leather together and this becomes the new from. To attach the lower end of the sheath to the oval pad, I would have to tack another piece of leather to the sheath and run it through the horizontal strap on the oval.

Ideally, a kydex sheath would have an extra strip across the backside to slip through the plastic connector/oval strap. Then near the bottom I would rivet another piece of kydex shaped like a belt clip to slip into the horizontal strap.
I think that would probably hold well. But since I've never done kydex before, it may take me a bit to do.

If you do a tactical thigh holster on the famous online auction site you will find the same type holster with all the colors.
