I doubt this is the right title, but I'm thinking about those knives that are basically a sheet of metal folded flat, with a blade in the middle.

So far I know of:

Mercator K55k

Douk Douk

Higonokami

Can you think of any others?

By the way, one of my favorite knives is my modified K55k. There is a site in France (with English translation) dedicated to the Mercator. I ordered a K55k that was all black, no cat logo or number on it. Very, very clean, very sleak. With a carbon steel blade too. Add on a black Niteize and you have a good looking knife with a pocket clip, and since I only have use of one hand, threw in a one-armed bandit for good measure, Great looking, great handling knife.

Besides the three listed above, are there any others?

I have a brass Higonokami, it's a nice knife, sort of like a straight razor, in that it has something similar to a monkey tail on the end of the tang that you hold down with your thumb to keep the blade secured. It's a carpenters knife, but it doesn't really do as well as an Exacto knife for carpentry. It's got a nice look, though, except the polished brass shows fingerprints and stains pretty bad. I think it's called a "friction folder", like the Svord Peasant. Nice knife, I guess. Whatever floats yer boat.

A sheet of metal folded flat, with a blade in the middle? Never heard of such.

The thinnest knife (folder) I know of is the Benchmade 530.

The Boker Titan 2 is super thin. The one I have is only 440A but the F&F is very good. Weighs next to nothing, about as thick as two nickels. AG Russell has some thin folders but I don't have first hand experience with them.

The Al Mar Ultralite series are some very thin knives-I edc an Eagle.--KV

That is exactly what a Higonokami is.

This is just a pic I took off the web, but you can see that the handle is a sheet of brass folded over the blade. A pivot pin and a "monkey's tail", similar to the one on a straight razor attach the blade to the handle. The monkey's tail is actually part of the tang. You hold it down with your thumb in the place of a lock. Gives you good blade control.

Take a look at the douk Douk or the Mercator K55K. That's exactly what they are.
